Communities United for Police Reform
New #WeDeserveToBeSafe report shows that NYers in heavily policed neighborhoods want and need a different approach to community safety that invests in community resources—not more policing & criminalization—and holds NYPD accountable for abuse. bit.ly/wdtbsreport

I'm learning so much from this @LPEblog @MovementLawLab symposium. Like when I got to this moment in today's post: "what better way to subjugate people to a specific political and economic order than to dismantle networks of solidarity between individuals and communities?"

In book contract news, There Are Black People in the Past: Reclaiming Our Time in Human Rights centers the marginalized histories of Black peoples' rights priorities, disrupts standard human rights accounts, & considers the repressive + radical power of rights. Live footage me rn

Very misleading, by Mayor Adams. The cop AND 3 civilians shot & injured *by NYPD*. 1 bystander reportedly shot in the head. Injuries are from cops shooting recklessly on crowded subway, in pursuit of someone they say didn't pay $2.90 fare. These NYPD actions make us less safe.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

Earlier today, one of our officers was shot while protecting our subway system. I am relieved to report he is in good condition now, and we have arrested the suspect who put so many lives in danger. I cannot thank these officers enough for their bravery.
