So I had a Zoom meeting today with an organization I work with. We run a camp for refugee/underprivileged children each summer. Because I was in my car, I had my microphone and video off. I guess the director didn’t realize I was on the call, so halfway through the meeting she asked, “Is Jessica here? Oh good… ok...” Then she proceeded to tell everyone in the meeting that I was Catholic and basically instructed them to supervise me around the children to make sure I didn’t bring my religion in (something I’ve never done) and that if I said anything “quirky,” to report me. It was extremely hurtful to be openly gossiped about. It’s my fourth year there, but suddenly I’m not to be trusted, and everyone needed to be warned about the dirty Catholic I suppose.
