Surprise! The Jeff Bezos-owned Washington Post is against my 5% billionaire wealth tax. I wonder why? If enacted, Bezos would owe $12 billion in taxes, and an average family of 4 would receive a $12,000 direct payment. Poor Jeff would be left with just $224 billion to survive.

First responders are in our communities to save lives and protect people. Firefighters and police officers are sounding the alarm everywhere, it is not their job to be Waymo's personal AAA.

I appreciate DSA members who worked to shut down the hateful detractor, but she continued. I look forward to working with DSA members to strengthen protocols on shutting detractors down swiftly and safely for everyone involved.

And that singular person was a bystander on the street who came to spew horrible antisemitic chants. Antisemitism has no place in San Francisco, period. Full stop.

At an event this afternoon, a group of individuals that were chanting "tax the rich" began to shout "tax the Jews." This was an event I put on with Supervisor Mahmood, labor leaders, and dozens of workers to announce a plan that creates more jobs for those workers and housing for San Franciscans. Suggesting that Jews are wealthy is a tired trope, and targeting our community at an event focused on creating economic opportunity for San Franciscans is decidedly antisemitic. I will never accept hate directed at the Jewish community or any community in our city. Those are not San Francisco values—we’re better than that.

Both will be talking tomorrow and I hope to be a part of it to understand why this policy protest turned into a flurry of accusations.

The press conf took place inside a cordoned off fence, so participants, including @TradesSf couldn’t distinguish protestors from the one woman. SF Building Trades put out a statement conflating the woman with DSA. DSA has even reached out to Building Trades.

I’ve spoken with multiple people present at the protest. Here are the facts: a mentally unstable woman—known to construction workers in the area—chanted anti semitic remarks while DSA members chanted “Tax the Rich.” Members tried to get her to stop, and chant over her. She left.

If the previous Mayor and this Mayor truly wanted affordable housing for working people, they would just FUND affordable housing (built by union labor!) *with* the real estate transfer tax as voters intended. Not repeal it. This is a break for developers, not working people.

Rents and evictions are skyrocketing, and the only housing getting built is actually affordable housing built by not-for profit developers or developers who are getting into the affordable housing game.

Mayor Lurie wants to undo the will of San Francisco voters and pass this massive developer tax break, under the guise of “unlocking” thousands of housing units. When actually, this tax has kept 20,000 San Franciscans housed and was meant *to fund affordable housing.*

Either someone on the editorial staff of the NYT is on vacation or an editor knows they're getting axed in the next round of layoffs. Anyway, remember this when the tech bros say SF needs more "moderate" candidates.

Hey @AOC San Francisco teachers are striking because they can’t afford to live on low income wages & benefits. While you’re in Munich please ask our governor @GavinNewsom what he’s doing to help resolve this and get our students and educators what they deserve.

San Francisco is so expensive that someone making $109K a year is considered low income. The average teacher salary is $103K. Believing that we can have a functioning school system and therefore a functioning city when teachers are getting paid poverty wages is INSANITY.
