I need to be real with you all. I've gone back and forth about posting this but I can't stay quiet anymore. My 4 year old son has a severe neurological condition. He's non-verbal and autistic and requires constant specialized care. That alone turned our family's life upside down. We found treatments that are extremely promising but they're just out of reach right now. Then a few weeks ago, my 11 year old was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. What was already the hardest chapter of our lives just got significantly harder. We have a 4 year old with intensive daily needs, an 11 year old whose health now requires around the clock management, and a 1 year old. There aren't enough hours in the day and there aren't enough of us. The art and design markets have been going through some serious changes and it's left us in the tightest financial spot we've ever been in. I'm not here for sympathy. I'm here because love and will do anything for them and have to exhaust every option I can. We are strong at the front end with R&D and proving things work - which is valuable- but gov support for scaling what we invent is weak at best. This is so important because it’s where the benefits become tangible for more Americans.

Spent last week in Vienna and had a great conversation with @rafaelmgrossi. You can feel the shift with fusion moving from research to deployment, and at the International Atomic Energy Agency that’s starting to land. Mine was when I was only 2 or 3. Might even be my first real memory. I had a recurring dream that two old men were dropping me into a well full of churning cement. I started having it the same year baby Jessica got trapped in the well, and my daycare wheeled the tv into our room and had the live footage of the rescue on all day. So yeah…that may have a left an impression.

I want to do this in DC but throw in a fun childcare option. I think it would take off.

🚨 STILL UNIDENTIFIED 💔 NEARLY ONE YEAR LATER 🚨 SOMEONE KNOWS HER NAME  The Philadelphia Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman who has remained unidentified for nearly a year after a devastating crash in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On May 18, 2025, at approximately 1:15 a.m., officers from the 35th District responded to a report of a critical injury crash in the 4800 block of North Broad Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. According to investigators, the driver of a gray 2007 Cadillac CTS was traveling northbound on Broad Street when an unidentified female pedestrian was reportedly standing in the roadway. As the vehicle approached, the woman stepped directly into the path of the vehicle. Emergency crews with the Philadelphia Fire Department transported the woman to Einstein Medical Center, where she was admitted in critical condition. Now, in March 2026, nearly a full year later, this woman remains hospitalized and has still not been identified. Somewhere, someone may be missing her. Someone may recognize her face but not realize she has been lying in a hospital bed all this time. Police are hoping the public can help give her back her name. 21 miles of water. 20% of the world's oil. And this weekend, that math caught up with us. We should be asking why we're still this vulnerable.

Flying on a rainy day is always a good reminder of two things: 1. It’s still absurd that we can launch ourselves into the sky in a metal tube and just… go above the weather. 2. The country feels stuck in a storm of partisan nonsense. But storms aren’t the sky. If we can get above the noise long enough to focus on what actually works - things that improve lives - the path isn’t that complicated.

Ya’ll. I just learned that the U.S. literally has underground caves full of TONS of cheese. WTF?? In the 70s/80s, USDA guaranteed dairy prices. When markets dipped, the gov bought surplus & stored it in caves to stabilize the system. But this wasn’t about our VERY real love of cheese. It was about price volatility and it made me think about our electricity challenge. Obviously we can’t store actual electricity in caves. When gas prices spike, power prices spike instantly. The only real stabilizer is structural. We need to build energy systems that aren’t tied to volatile global fuel markets. Advanced energy (including fusion) can absorb commodity volatility. That’s the difference between reacting to price shocks and designing a system that avoids them.
