Cash of course. 2-Hard reset it (wipe it) 3-Install VPN App that does not keep transactions logs like NordVPN 3-Install with privacy focused email like Proton email that is out of the country. (This is a key layer. Switzerland has highly privacy focused laws.) 4-Drive to a Walmart or a Starbucks or Homedepot (avoiding cameras) or any other place they have public wifi that you can connect for free and sit in the parking lot and send your ransom notes to the Tucson local stations and TMZ. Voila - Trace that FBI! (what porch guy is thinking) The more I think on this, tracing these emails could be dead-end after dead-end.
