My back-to-back easy days (weekly) and preemptive recovery has resulted in a LONG upward trend ✅ I've arrived at a strange place: • Tired with Green Metrics • Irritable with Kid Noise • 6-Month Peak CTL Different from end of Jan, it feels like the macrocycle might be done

Winter Update • 7-week load peaked last weekend • Found myself irritable Combo is a 🚩 so: • Declare victory • Unload 5:2 Loading Working • Trained through some Yellow Days • Swim ⬆️ • Strength ⬆️ • Maximal Bike Ramp Test ✅ Ski Week Next On The Agenda

One of the challenges of Dynamic Loading is deciding when to back off At the end of last summer, my metrics tanked and I stopped recovering from my training It was an easy signal to read Game Plan: • 2 Easy Weeks • Consolidate
Gordo Byrn@feelthebyrn1

The Dynamic Loading Thread Lots of interest in this after my Rich Roll Podcast I'm going to walk you through my current system • Background • Who to follow • Tools required • Approach The key shift is this concept... Load when your body is ready to absorb

I think this means Kilian Jornet listened to my podcast?! Great insights into one of mountain athletic's true GOATs. Thanks for all you do @kilianj #performancenutrition #mountainathlete

@Sportnutrient Thanks for the analysis, here some of the why's: Protein: for the tests I did on previous races, for me, this amount of protein was good for the post race muscle recovery. Beetroot: lymphatic system with all going on during race. 👇

I had the pleasure to chat with Jackson on the In The Flow podcast recently. We shot the breeze about sports nutrition and debated over some aspects of Kilian's nutrition, in particular his race diet. Have a listen as there might be some good advice in there 😀

@runwgl I’m doing a series of posts trying to make sense and offer some opinion on his nutrition at the moment. Most is on my insta at ultra.endurance.nutritionist but I link to it on Twitter too. Not had a look at the carb bowl yet.

One of the best articles on nutrition by a coach EVER. Sadly there is still such a culture of under-eating in endurance coaching and sport. Thanks, @MountainRoche, for being a leader, advocate, and beacon of light in this space. #eatenoughalways
David Roche@MountainRoche

Fueling life & training can be an act of love & joy 🧡 Let’s make it fun & encourage a culture of celebration of food in the running community. Athletes can only achieve their potential by stacking years of consistency, which requires eating enough food: trailrunnermag.com/training/trail…

@cyclingreporter @netflix how team tactics are an essential component of how bike racing works at this level. something most people don't realize and was showcased in flying colors this tour.

This is good. A major reason I have distanced myself from the "mainstream" vegan community. We shoot our big picture mission in the foot every time we throw fuel into the misinformation fire.
Brian Kateman@BrianKateman

Sketchy claims and pseudoscience will damage the cause of eating plant-based in the long run. Let’s stop with the misinformation, exaggeration, and cherry-picking. My latest for @FastCompany. #vegan #veganism #plantbased #meat #animals #nutrition #science fastcompany.com/90770376/vegan…

Time to upgrade my #podcast mic. Currently use a Samson Go Mic. Was a small $60 investment that has treated me well. Looking to improve my sound. Suggestions from experience? #audio

@Alan_Couzens I see a lot of ultra athletes who take for granted the role of hydration in GI distress, an area that isn't necessarily 'solved' by becoming more fit.

Athletes who train hard should: 1. not be afraid of carbs! aim for 5-10g/kg/day 2. fuel well before, during, after training 3. make and stick to a plan - don't rely on listening to hunger signals 4. energy density > nutrient density during heavy training 5. don't neglect sleep

“Overtraining” is really “under-recovery” driven primarily through chronic low energy availability (primarily carbohydrate), undermining training adaptation and performance. A thread.

@MountainRoche I experienced acute moldy jello syndrome (AMJS) about 10 miles before the finish of my first ultra last year. Thank sweet baby jesus I had poles to keep me from hurtling down a mountain pass face first. Cheers for triggering my PTSD with such a well-done article !
