Bath’s squad is incredible. Absolute masterclass of youth development. Identification of world beaters in key positions and perhaps their greatest strength snapping up special players in their early 20s. PS. If you are going to come for me on this I have the research from last time someone did - so I make no apologies if the facts don’t match your narrative! 😜

@TitchRugby @TightFive_Rugby 3 main issues with England this 6N IMO : Defence on the outside, discipline particularly on yellow cards and lack of clinical finishing. Not the fact that they simply “kicked too much” as some pundits would lead you to believe. Dominant first 30 against Italy yet scored one try.

@TightFive_Rugby I rewatched last night, and my main takeaway (perhaps controversially) was that England didn’t try to do much different than they did against Ireland. Still went through the phases and got into the 22 regularly. Main differences were fewer unforced errors and a bit of extra bulk

Just having a rewatch of England v France and I’m going to have to say what everyone has been this week… Why can’t England play like that every week? I mean everything is night and day. The ball carrying from the pack (Maro Itoje where has that been?!), the speed of ball, shifting it wide early, clean ball… So good to watch.

@TitchRugby @London__Smoke @RucksSake @TightFive_Rugby Honestly think we need to give Atkinson/Freeman midfield a chance, it could be world class. Throw in the fact Atkinson and F Smith played academy together, should really help. Both Seb and Tommy are going to get bigger and stronger too

@London__Smoke @RucksSake @TightFive_Rugby Seems that Lawrence is a decent jackaller but needs covering in defence. Reckon (/hope?) we’ll see Ojomoh come into the squad for Dingwall now. Think Freeman stays at 13 for his first phase carrying (beast vs France) and better lateral defending. Maybe Marchant or BJVR too?

I watched the Louis Theroux documentary on the Manosphere (it’s really good - do watch it). I saw it with my 18-year-old daughter. Five things I learned from viewing it with her:

@CharlieFelix I don’t want to be “elitist” but the claim professed by many that England should have just played out the final phases in their half, separates the people that know and the people that don’t know, you know?

Spencer was superb, but Van Poortvliet came on with France leading 38-32 and was integral to England's (excellent) seventh try. On his kick at the end, England weren't keeping possession for two minutes just outside their own 22. Right decision, let down by chase.
Charlie Morgan@CharlieFelix

Deepish dive into England’s attacking performance in Paris, which was excellent but left questions for the future. 👀 Open-minded on kick-return 6️⃣ Lineout weaponised again ⚡️ Scrum halves zig-zagging ♻️ Far better multi-phase thetimes.com/sport/rugby-un…

Just watched game again and 2 big decisions were wrong. Genge yellow card was debatable but it wasn’t a penalty try. Then the penalty advantage at 38-39 that was changed to knock on only by ref mid play Led to BB ….hard done by?

@EngRugbyDebate How many LBB tries were scored from kicks? I wonder if there is a section of the French public calling it boring??

@RugbyRules @IamAustinHealey No one has mentioned the ref in the losses against Scotland, Ireland or Italy. There were undeniably some glaring inconsistencies last night, multiple penalties against France for bringing down mauls close to the line…

@EngRugbyDebate Borthwick said before the 6N that it reflected a WC schedule, so I had wondered if they had a specific conditioning plan to replicate WC. They looked fitter & stronger last night? Also, minimal attacking play at the start of WC (kick heavy) to keep attacking cards close to chest?

Evidently a lot was so poor this tournament. Discipline and accuracy at unacceptable levels. It’s literally just a hunch but I’m also adamant they got their fitness tapering catastrophically wrong (albeit I have zero evidence or understanding of that field!). The difference between the rabid hounds on the field tonight and the zombies at Murrayfield is astounding. I’ll get laughed at but I’m not giving up on this side - there is a hell of a lot to take from tonight. The best of tonight’s 23, enhanced by Stuart, Baxter, Opoku-Fordjour, Sela, Oghre, Tuipolotu, Martin, Illione, two Curry’s, Sotutu, Mitchell, Ojomoh, Lawrence, Van Rensburg, Feyi-Waboso, Radwan & Furbank - and solidified by a proper defence coach - could achieve really good things. It’s a very young squad with so much to learn and so much potential growth. And tonight I felt we saw they’ve got bottle, intensity and creativity even if they’re a little naive. That scrum is turning into a proper platform. The ‘three locks’ transformed us. We should be unashamedly English. We’ve found some warriors in Heyes and Coles to add to those we knew of. And there’s a serious threat when Smith and Freeman get that backline moving. I’m under no illusion where we stand but I, for one, retain optimism on where we’re headed. Time will tell if I’m deluded if or if it comes good.

Steve Borthwick afterwards mentioned the confusion around this knock-on. Fin Smith kicked the ball away, having been told England had a penalty advantage, right as Nika Amashukeli said it was just a knock-on (after a call from the TMO) and that advantage was over. Led to Bielle-Biarrey's fourth (!) try. "I think that World Rugby needs to look at that kind of situation. You can't have the players playing with certain knowledge and then it taken away from them."

@bencoles_ Once TMO called in to clear it, he should have blown his whistle and called the scrum. You can’t just not communicate

England contained Menoncello reasonably well outside of two touches. It’s a problem when a) those touches brought Italy 14 points and b) England don’t have the same x-factor athleticism in their backline. Full piece: thetimes.com/article/7881b2…

On their run of 12 Test wins, England looked close to the sum of their parts. They currently look miles off that: muddled, tentative… broken. thetimes.com/sport/rugby-un…

I don’t care what anyone says, Christians & Muslims need to stop fighting against one another & unify against the head of the snake. Ultimately, this is the only claim to victory. None else will not cut it, the result will be subpar. Speaking as a Christian… Assalamu alaykum.
