We’re joined by Andrew Morton of Worldview Academy for a rich conversation about the “Enchanted Intellect” and the lasting influence of J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, and G. K. Chesterton on education in the latest episode of The Anchored Podcast. Check it out here: youtu.be/ellZnq-wRq0 @worldviewacad #Tolkien #CSLewis #GKChesterton #Education #Virtue

Penal substitutionary atonement necessarily implies particular redemption. There must be an antecedent legal union established between the substitute and the guilty party for a vicarious atonement to be justified.

So much of the church-state conversation today seems to include two sides talking past each other. One says that he wants government to embrace an explicit commitment to Christianity (eschewing atheistic secularism and other religions) for the purpose of legislating Christian ethics and influencing societal norms. The other says that he doesn’t want government to define Christianity or invade the local church’s jurisdiction (membership, beliefs, and leadership). My Evangelical friends, these two desires are not mutually exclusive. We *can* have disestablishment without religious pluralism. Indeed, American did have such things for quite some time.

He hungered — yet he fed thousands. He thirsted — yet he exclaimed: ‘Whosoever thirsts, let him come to me and drink.’ He was tired — yet he is the ‘rest’ of the weary and the burdened. He was overcome by heavy sleep — yet he goes lightly over the sea and rebukes the winds.

While the departure of Christian Smith from Notre Dame is a massive loss, his departing postmortem speaks powerful and necessary truths about the grave deficiencies of a university whose leadership have consistently settled for “acceptability” at the cost of genuine excellence, mission integrity, and courageous development of an exemplary Catholic intellectual institution which the world desperately needs today. firstthings.com/why-im-done-wi…

What is your calling, and why does it matter? In this article on the doctrine of vocation, @MichaelSchutt shows how God works through our ordinary callings at work, at home, in the church, and in the public square to accomplish His purposes in the world. worldview.org/vocation-our-c…

Jesus Christ has a "God and Father" (Eph 1:3). He has God as his Father by eternal generation (always Father, always Son), but as his God by incarnation, taking our nature as his own. When he asks "My God, why have you forsaken me," he asks in David's words, from our nature.
