A Trump = Hitler banner spotted at the NCAE ‘education’ protest in Raleigh. Is this the kind of political ideology making its way into North Carolina classrooms? #ncpol

Today’s NCAE “Kids Over Corporations” rally in Raleigh isn’t about kids. It’s a partisan wishlist disguised as education reform. The demands? A 25% across-the-board pay hike, $20k per-pupil spending (highest in the Southeast), end corporate tax breaks + vouchers, and “fair maps” + collective bargaining. Here’s why it misses the mark on actual student outcomes: • Vouchers aren’t “corporate tax breaks.” They’re separate, but the NCAE has them listed together. And 83% of 203 national studies show they help achievement, parent satisfaction, and even public schools via competition. Iowa & Arkansas kids on ESAs are outperforming public school peers on state tests. Why eliminate what works? • $20k per pupil by 2030 is arbitrary. NC already spends ~$12-13k per student. Decades of research show that throwing more money at the system without structural change delivers weak or zero gains in test scores or graduation. It’s a spending target, not an outcomes plan. • Raising corporate taxes hurts the families they claim to help. Rigorous studies show workers bear ~50%+ of the burden through lower wages. Every $1 in extra corporate tax revenue costs families real income. Not “redirecting” — it’s regressive. • Redistricting & “reclaim our democracy”? Pure politics. NCAE/NEA endorses almost exclusively one party. Redistricting debates have zero direct link to classroom results. Real reforms that move the needle? Performance pay, targeted stipends for in-field master’s degrees (especially STEM/special ed), and more local flexibility. Those have the causal evidence behind them. This rally closed schools for hundreds of thousands of kids to push a partisan agenda. Priorities? #nced #ncpol #SchoolChoice #RealReformNotPolitics #StudentAchievement

i’m sorry but europeans unironically using “yankee” thinking we find it like a slur is so funny
