I've been using Opus 4.6 and GPT-5.4 one after another (that is, an Opus session then a GPT session then Opus again, and so on) on the same projects for a couple of weeks now, and GPT-5.4 (High) has been consistently more successful. The difference is even more noticeable in debugging tasks, where Claude can spend up to 30 minutes digging without delivering any result, while GPT finishes with the right fix most of the time. The only problem with GPT is its conversational ability, or rather the absence of it. Getting it to explain the reason for the bug or the applied solution in a human-understandable way is a skill in itself.

I've had this strange behavior a few times now. Codex finishes, I ask it a question, it starts thinking again, then it suddenly stops and responds with what is essentially previous response. @thsottiaux

Show him Cursor. He bought it? Good, make everything good in Cursor cost extra. Make him pay it, then launch Claude Code. Wait for him to buy Claude Max, then launch Codex with 2x usage limits and superior performance. Make it shit in UI/UX so he has to still pay for Claude.

@burkov Read again, it’s Claude Code that is supposedly doing that, not Cursor.

Not only is Cursor an unnecessary VS Code fork, it also makes the investor lose $5000/month each time Cursor is selling a $200/month plan. Cursor investors deserve the badge for being the dumbest investors on Earth of all time.
