@LewistheLight1 That’s funny. Denis wrote my favorite book I read in 2024 (Tree of Smoke) AND my least favorite (Already Dead: A California Gothic). The latter, for me, was nearly unreadable. Haven’t read any Dennis Cooper yet!

@jacobjbg I once bought a Dennis cooper book (the marbled swarm) for some reason thinking it was a Denis Johnson book. Took it to a bench in a park to read. Made it like one chapter and felt so gross/hated it so much just left it there and biked away. Didn’t even want to stay in the park

Performative book post: halfway through w The Woman in the Dunes, by Kobo Abe. Hard to believe this was written in 1964. Genuinely unsettling psychological thriller. Sand as the setting and engine for the story works incredibly well.

I finally unfollowed these guys. The only reason they can tweet about Miles like a bad impression of Dril is because he’s dead. He wouldn’t let them ridicule him and one of the finest, richest forms of black art for cheap engagement. Jazz deserves so much respect and veneration.
