This has me thinking: which cheesy jazz artist will you stand up for, no matter what? For me, I will fight you physically (and lose, I don’t know how to fight!) to defend Kevin Eubanks and Wayman Tisdale
David James 🍩@funkentechno

@jacobjbg @Top10Nathan harsh! but yeah if you're not into fusion or the cheesier side of jazz at all I get it. but the first (couple maybe) are right in the zone for me

@jacobjbg I need these people to actually read the clutch points article and listen to TK pod, so they can stop screaming and use the rational parts of their brains.

A screenshot of a sentiment traveling around apoplectic Warriors fans. Folks! You are allowed to be mad. But you’re also gonna sound silly if you say patently false stuff. In what universe is any deal that doesn’t include Steph Curry something the Celtics would consider?

@mnkuchka They didn’t do any of this. They traded for Jimmy. They signed vets in 2024. There’s no point in getting mad at stuff that didn’t happen. The team made plenty of actual decisions (namely draft picks) that you can criticize. But otherwise it’s just emotional lamentations

@jacobjbg People aren’t mad about the end of the party, it was always going to end. They’re mad that team gave up years ago and lied to the fanbase about it the whole time. After years of disappointment ending with them flat out giving up, the backlash was 1000% to be expected

Let’s have a shred of emotional intelligence and maturity. You’re not mad at anything the Warriors did or didn’t do. You’re mourning the end of the party and lamenting the inexorable march of time. Projecting unhappiness at others is a self care strategy, but not a good one!

@jacobjbg I’m mad that the person I have to look at while mourning is Mike Dunleavy jr tho. THAT could’ve been avoided. Anybody but him!

@jacobjbg Yeah if Jimmy could play I could see the Celtics taking him instead of PG. But the Celtics weren’t going to trade Brown for just picks and an injured guy

@TA1297 I get it. I’m not perfect myself. I wish the Warriors had more options, and I wish their decision making had worked out differently, because it has had an impact on 30’s prime. But creating fictional scenarios (C’s want injured Jimmy???) to project unhappiness is whiny kid shit

@jacobjbg Cs fans are having the same freak out and I’d say this was a damn good offseason for us. NBA fans are hilarious

@jacobjbg Yeah that's fair. The lack of trade action certainly an extension of the botched picks discussion.

@KyleAMadson But for each point, there’s a counterpoint. Didn’t trade for a star, enter Jimmy. Didn’t sign vets, enter 2024 offseason. Kerr is too inflexible, enter Stack & Stotts. I just think the present situation has a lot of mitigating factors.

@KyleAMadson That’s the alpha & omega. If those picks were hits, they’d either be helping, or would be legitimate trade chips, and folks wouldn’t be as focused on rumored trades that never occurred. It’s easier and (I feel) a better practice to criticize their actual, observable fuck ups

@TA1297 Yes, this seems obvious to me, but Warriors fans are getting their grief about the party being over mixed up with the inactivity of free agency & the present situation the team is in from a roster construction standpoint

@jacobjbg If Jimmy was healthy I think they could have got him but if he was healthy why not just keep him. PG being plug n play was definitely big factor along with the picks.

@KyleAMadson I’m going to have to write a blog post in a different universe about this. Because I guess I don’t agree. I’m sorry man. I think this is a sentiment that has spun out of control. I think some moves they tried didn’t work. But I really can’t assess what didn’t happen, you know?

@jacobjbg IMO anger comes from continued unwillingness from team to do everything it can to maximize final Steph years. This didn't start this offseason. This is multiple offseasons and trade deadlines now of being precious about future picks in name of post-Steph era.

@jacobjbg Kevin Eubanks is also great with Dave Holland on the many occasions they've played together - and not at all cheesy in that context. Serious chops, and they work for him even on his GRP albums

My first John Martyn. Picked it up bc the recent Anthony Calonico album was compared favorably to Martyn. I don’t know his body of work nor his musical lineage. But the Calonico comparison is apt, esp the bass lines and use of fretless bass. Phil Collins produced (& is on drums)

Threw it back on for some sloppy seconds. Really a trippy album. Perhaps a bit more cinematic than In A Silent Way? Would love to know how this one was received when it came out. An album w a mousy balding dude on the cover

@jacobjbg There is so so much of it. Mean Greens and Silver Cycles are both very good imo. He started singing quite a bit towards the late 60s and onwards and he has some bad albums but there are some really fun ones even in his later career. I love his album- I need some money
