@blindandb0ujee I really don't understand what your issue is??? My mum has an Access Card and it works beautifully. Easier than having to constantly email companies with her benefits letter and explain that she needs a wheelchair space and a carer ticket

Now we’ve just got to bully them some more until they accommodate disabled people who don’t have/want a Nimbus card. The work is only half done.

We were at Leeds Arena last year, and like other venues, the access area has folding chairs, so space for a wheelchair if required and a companion, or space for two if ambulant disabled with the chairs.

This may not be practical if you’re in a specific area with a wheelchair space

Access seats only have 1 companion seats, most concerts let people buy up to 4 tickets, together. Hardly fair.

@mostly_sleepy @Chuffin_ell I understand the difficulties disabled people face and how difficult it can be. Maybe the issue isn’t with the card, it really has worked well for us. Maybe the issue is with the venues? Are they thinking does everyone receiving PIP need a free carers ticket?

@jacwyc @Chuffin_ell The problem is that many of their partner venues now *only* accept Nimbus. That means people who have never heard of it missing out on a concert entirely because they hit a Nimbus details screen, or having to pay for carer ticket at an attraction despite having PIP/DLA proof.

We could’ve rung the venue. Now we have to justify when we’re going. That’s not access. 🧶

Fun fact. The nimbus founder invited me to go view how they operate their business and I was like sure I'll come and see it, here's my availability and then they ghosted me. The access card is making it more difficult for Disabled people to attend events.

I can go online now and purchase tickets for a London show, when I log in and go to select the seats I want it offers me the choice of a reduced ticket for the Access Card holder, a free carers or a full price ticket.

@Chuffin_ell My daughter has a Nimbus Access card and it works well for us. No need to constantly share information or justify your needs with different venues. It shows she needs a plus one, so free carers ticket bookable online without constantly needing to provide proof.

This is what happens when access is turned into symbols and proof instead of conversations: people forced to pre-justify bodily urgency to a third party.

The £15 cost of the card is only really an admin cost. We’ve been using ours for two years, it has made our life much easier, and has saved us far more than the cost of the card.

@Tweetpop121 @jacwyc Except they're ignoring people's proof and demand more evidence than the DWP did during PIP. They've also demanded doctors and medical practitioners to email or contact them directly just to then allow you to have a symbol. It's embarrassing.

Receiving PIP/DLA, or having a Blue Badge doesn’t necessarily mean you need a carer with you, perhaps that’s the thinking of venues?
