We started closing more deals after implementing paint previews. You can't win on price, but you can win on quality: - paint previews - landscape design - fence mockups - lighting mockups Applicable to tons of home service industries. Wow them with the experience and follow through with great service

5 home service businesses that will make you $300K/yr as a solo operator. But the second you try to scale past yourself, they'll destroy you. I've watched owners go from clearing $25K/month solo to losing money with a crew of 6. Here's the list and why it happens 🧵

@jadslim_ I've talked to a ton of painting business owners and you rarely come across guys that have gone from 5 to 10 million. Very very rare

I’m in painting and we’re getting 60-70% review rate. some months have been 80-90%. I have a great sales person/project manager that does incredible customer service, we also send customers 3 emails and 3 text messages 1 day apart reminding them to leave a review, reviews are used to tip our painters!

I thought we had an effective review collection process, with about 15% reviews from completed jobs. Then I heard about 30% from a few people at X I had personal conversations with, and realized that 15% isn’t the limit and that I need to find a way to double that. And I think I found a solution through an A/B test. Technicians collecting reviews in person for around ~7% of completed jobs, everything else is automated. Before, our system worked this way: 1. Send a personalized text message with a single question – rate the experience with the technician from 1 to 10. 2. We got around ~50% responses with a rating. 3. In a second message we sent a link to leave a review. Only ~8.5% of those who got the first message actually left a review. Another approach I tested, which turned out to be twice as effective, works like this: 1. We send one personalized text message with a link (short domain + unique customer URL) and mobile friendly layout asking them to rate their experience. 2. The link shows the technician’s name and picture, the customer’s name, and how many others have rated the technician. 3. After the customer submits a rating, it prompts them to leave a review and redirects them to the Google review form. I didn’t expect this, but we got 16% reviews from those who received the first message. We doubled the efficiency of remote review collection with a simple change, and now our run rate is around 23% reviews from completed jobs. Next step is to train and motivate technicians to collect the remaining ~7% to get to 30%.

I will never understand why so many white-collar guys think they can just build a SaaS for home service business owners They have no idea what they're getting themselves into Not a game I would ever dare to play. Companies like Service Titan, Jobber, and House Call Pro already have this market cornered If you think your vibe coded SaaS platform is going to change the home service space Good luck

Just got off a call with a client. They're closing nearly 100% of leads for EV charger installs and panel upgrades. But their overall lead volume was down. Now the business are making more profit with less time. This is whats possible when you target properly with Google ads

We pay Zapier $10k a year. We are reducing it to $1k a year with AI and new tech. People saying AI is not impacting companies, have no idea what's coming.
