@JoeA_NFL @The_Chauncey @grantw1010 If a client came to me and said “hey they’re falsely accusing me of having a drug problem, what should I do?” You know what I wouldn’t recommend? “Hey let’s get you checked into the place where people with drug problems go and tell everyone!”

So youre telling me this guy went to games with his boys, got drunk, and bet pennies on balls/strikes? This is a huge fucking nothing-burger. Guy likes to have some fun. Doesn't sound like a concern at all. Am I missing something?

NEW: Sources who have reviewed the betting data told @PeteNakos that, dating back to 2022, Brendan Sorsby placed more than 10k wagers and at one point averaged 20 bets per day. Sorsby placed bets across multiple states, using a range of gambling apps. on3.com/news/texas-tec…

@JoeA_NFL @The_Chauncey @grantw1010 No, but when a millionaire checks himself into a rehabilitation center for a month, he probably has a gambling problem.

@JoeA_NFL @The_Chauncey @grantw1010 I disagree with your classification of “Crux.” If he gets banned it’s for betting illegally (underage) and on his own team—not because he bet on baseball games. The baseball part is being discussed because it highlights how much of a gambling problem he had.

@jaggieafitz @The_Chauncey @grantw1010 That is a decent argument against allowing players to bet on their own teams. Not a good one, but a valid one. That has nothing to do with the crux of the story--that Sorsby bet on MLB games. Which is a nothingburger, and the rules should be changed to reflect that. Fair?

@JoeA_NFL @The_Chauncey @grantw1010 Correct, but we normally debated pretty balanced polices. This is obvious It skews the integrity of the games. If a player knows they are 20+ points better than their opponent next week, why not try to keep the game closer this week so Vegas gives you a lesser line to cover.

@jaggieafitz @The_Chauncey @grantw1010 Jason, there's simply no chance youre this dumb. No one disputes the rule. The question is very explicitly why the rule makes any sense. Policy arguments. I'm positive they covered the concept of appeals to policy at Harvard.

@The_Chauncey @JoeA_NFL @grantw1010 It takes a lot to get me to agree with a Longhorn but Dave is 100% correct from both a policy and legal perspective here lol I’m gonna assume it’s just good rage bait from Joe though given the sarcastic attempt to flex a medium sized amount of money like this

@Evan_P_Grant For 4 years the Rangers have refused to walk the opposing team’s best hitters who uniquely DESTROY the Rangers and every single time it has cost them majorly I’ll never understand it

Shea Langeliers does his annual crush-the-Rangers thing with a two-run homer to, I think, Fresno. It's 4-2 on Jackie Robinson Day

@Dee25TH @PeteThamel The Feds move differently. They’ve probably had enough evidence to arrest him for months—they typically wait until they’ve completely built their case before arresting and charging you

@PeteThamel Genuinely questioning, how did they know they were the Mafia and at what point did they decide not to arrest them, but to wait for Billups?
