@CalumRaasay It is great to read of your plans for repairs to the boathouse. Photo below taken in c.1995/96 at the handover of ownership from HIE to Raasay Marine Association with your dad, me and Angus MacLean.
Our beautiful old victorian boathouse! There's rarely a wedding, birthday party or ceilidh that doesn't end with a big party and bonfire down here.
But the old roof is in need of repair. Can you spare a few quid for a donation? Then join us for a ceilidh there to celebrate maybe!
My dear old seanair would have been 97 today. Born on Fladda, a tidal island just off Raasay, he grew up in a world simply unrecognisable to us today.
A remarkable man, he built the home we’re raising our wee baby in until ours is ready. A portrait I got of him a few years ago.
Usual ferry is off to dry dock, so we have the 'old' ferry back! A loch class that now looks comically small for Raasay. You can also see the extra landing craft Calmac have chartered to carry the overflow. Really shows how much busier the island has gotten in the last decade!
One less on the bucket list! A cycle along Rathad Chaluim on the island of Raasay today. An amazing road built by one determined and principled man. Great to be back in Raasay, the island where my MacLeod forebears came from. #Ratharsair
My latest video is the longest video I've ever made - and one of the most complex!
It's about one of the most tragic and unusual arctic expeditions - an attempt to reach the North Pole by means of hydrogen balloon. It was a disaster.👇
After 42 odd years, the old man @jagraas finally hangs up the keys to Calmac ferries 🫡
If you’ve ever travelled on one of the big calmac boats these last few decades, there’s a fair chance he was skipper! ⛴️
We’re moving into my grandfathers old house as we build our house! Reflooring and painting this to make a bedroom. Found an interesting design on the original floorboards
Anybody who thinks the world isn’t messed up should take a look at this bill for a range of eye-wateringly expensive whiskeys, purchased at the Fife Arms in Braemar on the night before Hogmanay. Wonder what they bought to usher in the New Year! Thanks to @Ian_Fraser
