Today, September 12th, is the birthday of Michael Wells Arnold. He died in the 2013 DC Navy Yard shooting. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 36 years and a proud and loving father of two young adult sons.

Today, I’m remembering the lives of the 26 children and educators who were shot and killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The first graders murdered that day would be 18-years-old now—adjusting to life after high school, celebrating milestones with loved ones, and building their futures. They deserved all that and more.

This Sunday, 60 Minutes remembers the New York City firefighters who were sent into the World Trade Center to rescue victims on September 11, 2001 — a life-changing experience that’s now a part of who they are.

Today, September 7, is the birthday of Caroline Phoebe Previdi. She died at the age of 6 in her first-grade classroom at Sandy Hook. Caroline had a beautiful smile, and she loved to draw & dance. She was taken from her parents and an older brother in addition to extended family.
