@feedtheball @drewharvie On a course with holes that fit in the land beautifully it’s certainly an outlier!

@drewharvie Bingo. Probably the worst hole at Sedge. Strange how the “copy” could fall so far off the mark.

Random pic of the day that popped up on my iPhone carousel. This hole is actually modeled on another hole the architect had previously built on a different course.

You hear about list chasers who chase the Top 100 golf courses. But there is a more exclusive list. The Discoveryland collection. The most expensive collection of clubs. Almost zero unaccompanied play allowed. Absolutely incredible experiences. I’ve only seen 9 of these.

@TronCarterNLU Zero rain recently in Augusta and Scottie is talking about having a mud ball in the fairway on 13!!! How is this possible!? Disgraceful!

@Fremond_ And you can tell what’s good and what’s not just by the exterior appearance?

people who look for "the best" of anything are tedious. it just means you have no interiority, no bildung, no sense of subjectivity to evaluate things based on your own priorities. you farm out your "taste" to a middling writer in Queens who writes for TimeOut earning 50k/year to churn out slop posts about what restaurants are "the best". sheep!
Elena@VirtualElena

sure NYT I believe that a “restaurant gap relationship” is not only a real thing but that a phenomenon that has only emerged in the past 5-10 years wrought by opportunistic opentable scrapers, private dining clubs, credit card points, concierge services, and nyc’s increasingly competitive restaurant scene is in fact “the ultimate test of compatibility”

The first-timers at The Players name their four favorite golf courses. Our guy Michael Brennan pulled a @TronCarterNLU and picked five.

@NoLayingUp @TronCarterNLU A guy from England putting Quail Hollow in his top 4 should get him exiled. Good grief!

@Top100Rick Fair, but I think it depends on the culture of the club. Plenty of well-heeled clubs that don't feel the need to add this type of gaudy excess. Are the luxury spots in Aus/NZ really just the ones created by Americans?? I do think some places do luxury tastefully.

@jake129171 It’s just money. All of those places are now adding some luxury spots. Once people get money, things change. For worse maybe, but it’s reality. Australia has quite a few luxury spots. NZ too.

The comfort stations of Bluejack National. Bring an appetite! The Blake Cottage (I call it the Chili House) is loaded with candy, hot dogs, full bar, and the delicious chili! The Jerky Shack has another candy room, bar to get another Jackhammer, and real wood fired barbecue! The brisket and sausage is amazing. The Lemon Drop is on the first tee and offers snacks and drinks, why not start the day with a refreshing beverage? Is it overkill? Maybe. Would I have Type 2 diabetes if this was my home club? Yes. But it’s also fun and a great treat. The BBQ is the star. Bluejack is just pure fun. The golf course is awesome and everything around it is just as great.

The course itself is right up your alley. Truly inspired by the ideas of The Old Course. And very walkable. I’d rather do the fast carts because can play unlimited golf and make your own course routing. Allows for more exploration. It’s a 35 minute flight from Houston airport.

Last week I experienced the craziest golf club in the country. And nobody has heard of it. Imagine having your own golf wonderland just for you and your buddies. A place with no rules, where every golfer is truly treated like a king. Let me tell you about TXO:

A huge chunk of golf course talk is just conformist group think. People elevate exclusivity, conditioning and other factors - and are generally just afraid to go against established takes regardless of obvious hypocrisies. Maybe it’s because I grew up playing in mountains and a simple elevated tee shot doesn’t completely stun my senses, but there is no way the hole 1 tee shot at Riveria is one of the best in golf. It’s just not, despite Twitter talk this week. I mean….look at how featureless this shot is. I’m not personally hating on the hole just pointing out that this fairway set up gets SHREDDED if not at a highly regarded private club.

More fire from Kidd and crew… 20 minutes from Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco, Wash., the routing runs the ridges of the Snake River. The 15th green will draw comparisons to the 16th at Cypress. And if they eventually develop the land on the other side of the river…?!?! 🔥🔥🔥

Haha this is like $4,000 in golf logo belts. At first I was a bit taken aback. That’s insane, right? But you know what? That’s like half a purse these days. People don’t bat an eye at seeing a Louie Vuitton at a restaurant. The boys are now accessorizing and it’s gonna get expensive.

Forgot to do this earlier in the year but, here is the Smathers lineup at the end of 2025. Hopefully the new year brings some new additions to the closet!

@jake129171 @Top100Rick Hating someone bc he’s in college and has a belt collection? Might just be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. I’d LOVE for you to provide an actual reason why this made you hate him - bc the only one I can think of is jealousy. Jealousy is a mental cancer my friend 🤝
