@peakwaytaps@Square They can (temporarily) if you disconnect the device from the Internet, but they won't fully process until the service is back up. Also can be lost if the device shuts down.
We are currently experiencing issues with multiple Square services. We understand how important it is for your business that our services be up and running, and we are actively working toward a fix.
We’ll keep you updated at issquareup.com as we learn more.
@nanobrewer559@sunsetbeerco@Whateverbrosk1@SquareSupport Good point as well. Depends if you think your clientele is generally trustworthy or not. It is a definite risk/reward for those businesses who are choosing against making card sales period.
So square is down nationwide and I have 300 covers on their way in. Why the fuck is there no way to to run this offline like EVERY other POS system in existence. Some updates would be nice @SquareSupport
@petehudson@DrEggenberger@Square Can also try turning off WIFI and taking payments in offline mode. Should make sure that device is securely powered or offline payments can disappear when the device turns off. Maybe take pictures of your transactions also. Just in case proof is needed for the company or lawsuit
@DrEggenberger@Square Not sure, but it seems pretty widespread. We're research back up options right now. They're providing "updates" at issquareup.com
For small biz owners dealing with @Square being down. We're able to charge on the iphone app. ipad is not connecting, but the iphone is working. Might be worth a try if you have customers trying to pay...
@SquareSupport@dalongok100 Any chance you guys could update that page then? It has been several hours before any more info has been provided. Just a little transparency as to what the problem and timeframe is would go a long ways.
@KoalaMoa@Whateverbrosk1@SquareSupport Just make sure that your device is securely powered or has a full charge. Offline payments are lost when the device shuts off. Maybe push back your "Nightly Reboot" if it is happening any time soon.
@Whateverbrosk1@SquareSupport Don't know if this will work for you, but I went into settings and manually turned off wifi. Square register immediately went into offline mode, and now I can accept offline payments. Hope this helps!
@realAaronBergh@JNorrett68447@Square@jack Make sure you shut off the wifi access to the device you are trying on or it will default to online mode. But take pictures of your transactions and push your nightly reboot back so you don't lose those records in case of power loss. Offline transactions disappear in that case.
@Square@jack This outage is going to cause me to lose money because we can’t accept payment - and just as they have any other time Square’s issues have resulted in a loss of business, they will offer a pittance of compensation, if any at all.
@sunsetbeerco@Whateverbrosk1@SquareSupport Agreed. This is what I am currently doing. There is the risk of losing payments involved though. Take pictures of your transactions and make sure that your system is charged/has power and isn't scheduled for a reboot soon. A shutoff loses those offline payments.
@Whateverbrosk1@SquareSupport I did this as well and I can now at least capture credit card info in offline mode (only by swiping though - no chip/tap reader). When the ipad/device is connected to wifi at all, Square attempts to connect to its servers and it botches the whole thing
With the 2023 NFL season getting underway Thursday, time to do a new roll call. Where are yinz calling home right now as Steelers fans across the globe? #Steelers#NFL 📌🌎
@SquareSupport Can you confirm that this will be done in a way and a timeframe that won't void offline payments? Using those would help a lot of people keep their businesses running.
@SquareSupport Have you tried telling people to shut off the Internet to their devices and running in offline mode?
I am currently doing this and taking pictures of card transactions to ensure that record of them isn't lost in case of some unexpected power loss or reboot.
