@jallen A can of Schlitz doesn’t quite scream ESV.
I’d say American Standard. NOT NEW American Standard. The ASB.

@jallen Used the same can opener they used to use to open the cans of communion grape juice.

@kyleworley @MBTS I didn’t realize you were working in Apologetics. That’s cool. You might bump into Carson, he’s in a seminar this week too.

On campus this week @MBTS for a seminar on philosophical theology and here is what I am seeing:
*Happy students - I am blown away by how happy the students seem to be here. They are engaged and energized.
*Accessible faculty - I ran into multiple professors today just being with students. Talking with them, sitting with them.
*Hospitality - @drandrewmking invited me to come train jiu jitsu with him this week, @KodyGibby ran into me and suggested lunch. This seems normal here.
*Professors are interested in ideas - This might sound obvious, but I've been in three different seminaries and let me tell you: It's not. The professors at MBTS are interested in serious engagement with ideas. They are neither dismissive nor disinterested.
If you are looking to jump into seminary education, take it from someone who has degrees from three other strong seminaries: Nobody is doing what MBTS is doing like they are doing it. They are operating at a different level right now.

@danitreweek I think this would be very helpful. It could bring clarity to the office of pastor/elder and provide helpful designation for those serving in ministry roles in a non-elder capacity (for both men and women).

Hey SBC friends - I have a good faith question asked out of genuine interest. Would the term “minister” (from the Latin translation of διάκονος = servant) be considered a theologically sound and helpful alternative way to understand/frame/refer to women serving in vocational ministry according to complementarian convictions in SBC churches? For example: “Jane is our church’s women’s minister”, “Sophie is a children’s minister” etc.
Or is the root of the issue that those kind of serving roles are not permitted for women in SBC churches (i.e., “minister” is just another loophole that needs to be closed down)? In which case, I have a second good faith follow up question: how is such a position defended as authentically complementarian by the convention?
Please take these questions in the spirit I’ve articulated above.
PS. BDEWP made me giggle.

New Super Bowl ad just dropped reminding women facing unexpected pregnancies that adoption is an option.
Rarely do we see an ad like this, especially during the Super Bowl. If one woman sees this & decides not to terminate her baby, then it's worth every penny spent @LiveAction

Tennis is the toughest sport mentally by a big margin. No substitutes, No team mates to discuss, No coaching, No half time, No break. Look at Aryna after losing the final…you’ll never see football or basketball players kicking the ball…Tennis >>>
