We'll never become a "multiplanetary civilization". No matter how many times Musk repeats it. Firstly, the only other planet within reach, Mars, is completely barren and nothing will ever grow on it. Secondly, our fragile bodies are simply not designed to live in space for any length of time. Just ask the people staying at the International Space Station. Thirdly, to reach any other system, you'd need unimaginable amounts of energy. Energy that you would have to take with you. Not to mention that you'd have to brake long before arrival else your bodies will be torn apart. Fourthly, unless you travel at or near the speed of light (even 50% would be incredibly fast), it would take generations to get there. Inbreeding, anyone?
