@PeteWishart Can I ask what you actually do to earn your inflated wages? You seem to be more of a Twitter warrior than a public servant.

Douglas Ross is someone who thinks a super power is to have everyone else dislike him. What contemptible behaviour.

@HumzaYousaf Scotland and the UK is falling apart you fucking moron, mostly due to policies you have been involved in or supported. You’re a traitor and you should leave and go live in Gaza since you love it so much.

Profits from Scotland’s natural resources must not flow to a company blacklisted by the UN for their activities in illegal Israeli settlements.
If they approve Rosebank the UK Government could breach their obligations under international law.

Funny how ALL the highly skilled jobs are apparently men in overalls.
Many of those jobs on the building - are qualified by nothing (basic labourer). Some are qualified by a few weeks in night school (plasterer) plus the job training (decorator/basic plumbing etc).
The trades - electrician, corgi qualified plumber and skilled carpenter - require a couple of years college combined with a couple of years on sites
Nothing like the architect - (7 years at University plus 3 years on the job) after excellent A levels. Or the surveyor, or the property lawyer or the building inspector.

@nawpasaran @04nbod @begoniatulip @Artemisfornow There’s no point. You’ve clearly never been anywhere near a building site. You have no idea how dangerous they are. I’ve never worked in hospitality. We’re just going round in circles here. I’d say it’s been a pleasure but this has actually all just been pointless. 😂
English

@ScottD1993 @04nbod @begoniatulip @Artemisfornow nowhere near the same thing. what you described is just patter. I've faced homophobic abuse, been called every name under the sun only for doing my job. building sites are only dangerous if the safety precautions aren't met.
English

@nawpasaran @04nbod @begoniatulip @Artemisfornow Builders get abused by drunk brickies. 😂 a building site is just as if not more of a hostile work environment than a pub due to the nature of the job attracting unsavoury characters. On top of that you have serious injury and risk of death. Also I’m not a builder lol
English

@ScottD1993 @04nbod @begoniatulip @Artemisfornow never said it was harder or just as hard, but people who work on a building site don't normally work past midnight. both should be paid fairly for what they do. also, builders don't get abused by drunk customers when they are simply doing their job.
English

@nawpasaran @04nbod @begoniatulip @Artemisfornow Your original comment implies that retail or hospitality work is a skilled job. Which it is. But barely. You can’t have a waitress bringing home nearly the same money as a joiner. Correct they don’t, but getting up at 4:30am to be at work for 6 is unsociable.
English

@nawpasaran @04nbod @begoniatulip @Artemisfornow You will never convince me bar work is as hard/difficult as a tradesman working through the winter in the UK. If you think that then we live in completely different realities. If you work on a building site (bar licensing laws) all of the points you made apply to everyone there.
English

@ScottD1993 @04nbod @begoniatulip @Artemisfornow that isn't all what bar work is though, people skills are very important, same with defusing tense situations that may lead to violence or chaos. you also need to know licensing law. also bar work often has unsociable hours. they are different jobs both with different demands.
English

@04nbod @nawpasaran @begoniatulip @Artemisfornow Honestly all I’m talking about is how serving tables and pulling pints isn’t as difficult to learn and perform as someone with (what you and I would call) a skilled trade. I’m scrolling twitter, leaving off handed comments. Not sitting thinking deeply about the job market.
English

@ScottD1993 @nawpasaran @begoniatulip @Artemisfornow Wage growth comes from the value of the market. If your skills aren't justifying the price because someone with the same skill is willing to charge less then you must meet the competition and be paid less or get a new job. The rich really like an oversaturated job market.
English

@nawpasaran @begoniatulip @Artemisfornow Couldn’t you argue though, that the hospitality skills you need to work in say, Wetherspoons can be learned by any competent person in a week. Whereas a tradesman takes at least 4 years to become proficient, and has to constantly add to his repertoire throughout his working life.
English

@begoniatulip @Artemisfornow working in hospitality ane retail still requires a degree of skill that people that have never worked in that sector probably don't have
English

@Ross_Greer So now you want to deport foreign criminals? Funny how that works.

It very much looks like the US Government has just abducted two people from Scotland hours after our Court of Session ordered that they not be removed.
The US is a rogue state. It's time to evict their troops from their de-facto base at Prestwick airport.

@goldfinch1952 @CSaltroad1 What Ian fails to understand is that the council workers who empty the bins and sweep the streets will likely earn a few grand more thank 43k a year 😅 we also need less waste of public money, not more taxes to fund more waste.
English

@CSaltroad1 Utter rot. Public services and all the rest need more not less. Turnip heid.
English

@ScottD1993 @PeteWishart Can’t be having sensible suggestions like that Scott

The next migration figures are likely to be disastrous for a Scotland facing a population crisis. We could well see our population fall well ahead of schedule. Lab have introduced an immigration policy counter to the Scottish interest and SLab do nothing heraldscotland.com/politics/westm…
