@mitsuhiko The dev environment being used to dynamically modify itself reminds of the Lisp machine and Smalltalk worlds.

@kenlmathis Does the constitutional amendment require senate approval? If so, could one argue that another reason for PP going with BJT is that they control the senate and so can (if they want) deliver this?

I find it hard to believe that Buckingam Palace uses exclamation marks like that.

I am grateful to His Majesty King Charles III @RoyalFamily for his cordial wishes to all Ukrainians on our Independence Day. His Majesty’s kind words are a true inspiration for our people during the difficult time of war. We appreciate the United Kingdom’s leadership in supporting Ukraine and our just cause: to defend freedom from tyranny and ensure a lasting peace in Ukraine and throughout Europe.

For the first time in my life, I managed to miss a flight. By going to the wrong airport! Had a domestic Air Asia flight, which I assumed was going from Don Mueang, but in fact was from Suvarnabhumi.

I did my first vibe-coded project github.com/jclark/mac-pps It's pretty amazing how much one can get done with Claude Code if one adopts a fairly relazed attitude to code quality

This made me laugh out loud this morning.
Thai Enquirer@ThaiEnquirer

The Ministry of Defense said the exact number of generals in the Thai armed forces is an "extreme secret" and cannot be divulged to the lower house's Committee on the Armed Forces. The ministry explained that personnel numbers within the ministry are classified as "top secret," especially those related to high-ranking officers. This classification aligns with national security concerns and complies with regulations that require units to keep sensitive information secure. Any full or partial disclosure of "top secret" information could severely harm the state's interests. The ministry stated that it has been continuously reducing the number of generals as part of a plan to downsize positions for special qualifications, senior officers, and operational roles. The plan is set to be completed by the 2025 fiscal year. So far, 330 general positions have been reduced, and an additional 70 positions are set to be cut between the 2024 and 2027 fiscal years. People's Party MP Jirat Thongsuwan, a member of the committee, said that previously, troop numbers were never considered "classified," but today the military has classified this information to avoid scrutiny. He argued that knowing the number of generals does not affect the country's security. However, if the public is kept in the dark, the military can continue to claim it is reducing the number of generals without providing any references. He also said that if revealing the number of generals could severely threaten the country's security, Thailand would likely have lost its sovereignty a long time ago, as the names of all promoted generals are published in the Royal Gazette every year. The United States military, with the largest military force in the world, has 1.3 million personnel and only 653 generals. Meanwhile, the Thai military, with 300,000 personnel, appointed over 600 new generals last year alone (just from colonels promoted to major generals), not including those who did not get promoted or those already holding the rank of lieutenant general or general. The legal limits for each branch of the U.S. military (as outlined in 10 U.S. Code § 526) set specific caps, but the actual number of generals typically falls around 650-700 across all branches, depending on appointments and regulations. #Thailand #นายพลล้นกองทัพ

Real difference I've noticed over time: X: most international by *far*. Mastodon: feels like being in a Germanic land (probably because I'm on on Eugen's instance). Bluesky: feels primarily American (unsurprising given the exodus). I do miss the mix, eg, ~no Indian voices.
