In this interview, Green Party leader Zack Polanski explains why he wants to legalise prostitution. Or “sex work,” as he calls it. He presents it as a legitimate job choice - akin to becoming a lawyer, hair stylist or plumber. Yet much of the research on prostitution shows extremely high rates of childhood abuse, time in care, addiction and coercion among women involved. Most enter through poverty and lack of alternatives - not empowerment. This sits alongside another key Greens policy: the legalisation of hard drugs. Instead of tackling the structural injustices that leave some women feeling their body is their only commercial asset we’re told this is about “putting women at the heart of what they choose to do with their own body.”🤔 What next - OnlyFans apprenticeships? The Bonnie Blue award for services to sex work?
