Given what has just been seen of the character of Rob Hastings at the #spycops inquiry, it should be a matter of gross national concern the investigations and work he later did in counter terrorism and with the Muslim Contact Unit.

At the #spycops inquiry, the barrister asks Robert Hastings if he came onto a young woman and was rejected by her while he was an undercover cop spying on Palestine activists. He laughs, robustly says "No", then begins another sentence "She was..." before thinking better of it

September 2014 was six months after the Undercover Policing Inquiry was announced by then Home Secretary Theresa May. Given how #spycops typically maintained contact with each other after their deployments ended, it's hard to imagine that Hastings was not aware of this.

Huge amounts of admiration for the brave testimony of 'Maya' today at the #spycops inquiry. No idea where she found the courage. Hastings is a monster no doubt. What happened 7 years later that got him finally fired that was more problematic for the MPS than what we heard today?
