I know "Aboki" means "my friend".
But when Southerners use it there is a double meaning. They use it to demean northerners and use it as a slur not with good intentions.
It is just like how White people use the word "Nigger".
So I learned a long time ago to address all northern people as "My guy" if I don't know their name.

If you struggle to pray at night, here are seven things I have practiced over the years that may help you.
1. Do not eat heavy meals after 7 p.m. If possible, avoid eating anything at all after 7 p.m.
2. Sleep early. Ideally, be in bed by 9 or 10 p.m.
3. Even if you sleep early, set an alarm for the exact time you want to wake up and pray.
4. When you wake up to pray, avoid the following:
a) Do not kneel immediately. You are already feeling weak from sleep. Stand on your feet and, if possible, walk around your room while praying.
b) Do not close your eyes. You are already feeling sleepy. Closing your eyes will make it easier to fall back asleep. Turn off the lights to reduce distractions, but keep your eyes open while praying.
c) Play worship songs if necessary to create the right atmosphere.
d) Finally, depend on the Holy Spirit. He is the One who strengthens and quickens you.

I will just use this conversation to educate others.
“Ba Yarbe” - Of Yoruba origin
“Ba Haushe” - Of Hausa origin
“Ba Larabe” - Of Arabic origin
“Ba Nupe” - Of Nupe origin
Etc.
“Nyamiri” is as much a slur as “Mun chi.”
“Aboki” is actually kind because the real meaning of the word is “friend” so it is only the way one uses it that might give it a negative connotation.
That said, I am against all slurs, regardless how they emerge and I don’t use them either.
