In autumn 1946, a young economist from rural Tennessee arrived at the University of Chicago calling himself a libertarian socialist. By December, his entire worldview had collapsed and been rebuilt. This is the story of one of the three future Nobel laureates trained by the same professor.🧵

I’m sick to death of the right wing press to be honest. I suspect that Keir didn’t even know he had a niece and this wouldn’t have crossed his desk. Why is he getting the blame for selections that he has absolutely no involvement with whatsoever? 🤷🏼‍♂️

🗳️ Sir Keir Starmer’s niece is standing in the local elections in Croydon, one of the safest wards in London. Some disgruntled local Labour activists claim she has been “parachuted into a safe Labour seat” telegraph.co.uk/politics/2026/…

The moment you finally realise you’re leading the most authoritarian government in our country’s history: 1️⃣ Introducing an official definition of “anti-Muslim hostility” that silences legitimate criticism of religion — 18 years after Parliament abolished such laws. 2️⃣ Removing the right of most defendants to have a jury trial, in the biggest assault on English liberty in over 800 years. 3️⃣ Requiring pub landlords to monitor customers’ private conversations to protect staff from remarks, comments, or jokes they may find “offensive”. 4️⃣ Clamping down on lawful social media posts, arresting an Irish comedian for gender-critical tweets and even threatening to ban access to X in the UK. It’s not a great look, is it, Prime Minister…

The IRGC can definitely hit the UK with a missile that can hit Diego Garcia, the distance is the same, and if it hadn’t been for the efforts of the United States and Israel, all of Europe would have been under a permanent jihadi nuclear cloud, since just as they were lying about the missile range, they were lying about building the nukes to put on the end of those missiles: nukes to destroy London, Paris, and Madrid, and bring about the Armageddon they are religiously bound to crave. No need to thank Israel and the United States for literally saving the world, but history will know what they did, and how the childish leaders of Europe stood on the sidelines and whined as the adults saved them from their own stupidity.
Piers Morgan@piersmorgan

So not only has Iran brazenly lied about its ballistic missile range capacity, but this means it can probably hit the UK with them - and we have zero, I repeat ZERO, defence against these missiles. Very worrying.

Why is the left excusing Kristallnacht? The Guardian's bizarre take on anti-Jewish violence. The Guardian, the newspaper for the thinking man's anti-Semite, ran a bizarre article that claimed that a Jewish-owned cafe opening on the same street as a Palestinian-owned cafe in London was "an act of heavy-handed high-street aggression". Interesting! I thought London was part of Britain and not Palestinian territory. The article also dismissed violence against Jewish businesses: “A smashed window here, a provocative sticker there. In an age when protest feels increasingly meaningless, it’s no wonder that acts of petty symbolism are on the rise” So smashing up Jewish-owned businesses is just a bit of petty symbolism, according to The Guardian. It's interesting to see the kind, progressive, tolerant lefties making excuses for Kristallnacht.

I am the Ukrainian skeleton racer who was wrongfully disqualified from the Olympics last month because of my “Memory Helmet.” Tonight in Milano-Cortina, the Paralympic Games are opening. The Committee has bizarrely permitted Russian soldier-athletes to participate under the Russian flag. The head of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) literally stated that they don’t care about what Russian soldiers did in Ukraine. The problem is that we do care. They are killing Ukrainians on the battlefield, bombing our cities, and committing genocide. Now, with this step of allowing them to compete, the IPC is giving them the opportunity to continue committing genocide by spreading Russian narratives with Russian flags and symbols. They try to manipulate the situation by pointing out that the movement started after World War II, but during World War II the Olympic Games were cancelled, and German athletes were not invited and did not take part in the Games until 1952. It looks like the head of the IPC doesn’t know the history of the Olympic and Paralympic movement at all. What a shame. This whole story is just getting worse and worse.

We put the land use argument to Keith. Keith. You are occupying agricultural land that could, theoretically, be used to grow crops. How do you respond? Keith stopped chewing. He looked at the field. The field is on a 30-degree slope in Devon. The topsoil is clay. The drainage is complicated. No tractor has successfully operated in the lower section without becoming a story people tell in the village pub. Keith looked at us. Keith, do you believe this field could produce food crops without you on it? Keith walked to the lower section of the field. He ate a thistle. He stepped on a bramble runner and ate that too. He looked at the clay in the corner where it waterlogged every winter and produced nothing except rushes, which Keith also ate. Are you saying the field is only productive because you're on it? Keith looked at us with the expression of an animal that has grasped the argument entirely and found the question slightly beneath him. He then left through the gate he had opened by himself. He was in the road for nine minutes. He ate a passing cyclist's energy bar. We are not including this in the land use efficiency report.

Last night in the House of Lords, the General Secretary of the Free Speech Union, Lord Young of Acton, proposed three amendments to the Crime and Policing Bill. These amendments address what should be a straightforward question: should misgendering a trans person be treated as a criminal or aggravated offence? Clearly, the answer is no. The Government has proposed an amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill that extends the aggravated offences under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 — currently limited to race and religion — to cover sexual orientation, transgender identity, sex and disability. In addition, it wants those aggravators to be extended to a new offence of causing harassment, alarm or distress to emergency workers. But why? The Crown Prosecution Service already has the power to flag sexual orientation, transgender identity and disability as aggravating factors when bringing a prosecution. When flagged in this way, incidents are recorded by the police as hate incidents, and judges can take those aggravating factors into account when sentencing. So what is the point? It won't create any additional safeguards for these 'protected' groups in the criminal law. The police, CPS and courts already treat sexual orientation, disability and transgender identity as aggravating factors. The main consequence of the Government's amendments — should they become law — will be to signal to the police that reports of supposedly “offensive” social media posts, aggravated by hostility towards these characteristics, should be prioritised — or, rather, given even more priority than they already are. More than 12,000 people were arrested in 2023 on suspicion of committing an offence for something they posted online. That’s over 30 people a day. Yet fewer than one in ten of those arrested were ultimately convicted and sentenced. The Free Speech Union has long argued that the police should focus on solving real crimes on our streets, not policing our tweets. Lord Young’s third amendment concerns Section 4B of the Public Order Act 1986. The Government is intending to create a new offence on April 1st — intentionally causing a person harassment, alarm or distress because of their sex. And that could include misgendering because, after all, it would be prompted by the perception that the real sex of the 'victim' is at odds with the sex they claim to be. And you can bet your bottom dollar trans activists will claim that misgendering them (in reality, using their correct gender pronouns) will cause them harassment, alarm or distress. Lord Young’s amendment would create a carve-out for misgendering, making it clear it's not an offence under s4B. Even if these changes to the law don't result in people being prosecuted for misgendering, they could easily result in people being investigated and arrested. Forty per cent of the 5,600 cases handled by the Free Speech Union in the last six years relate to sex and gender. These are not hypothetical scenarios. They reflect the reality of how the system already operates. Lord Young’s amendments ask for something modest: clarification that misgendering should not be treated as a criminal offence, let alone an aggravated one. They would not prevent police from investigating genuine crimes committed against trans individuals. But they would remove the potential for the law to be weaponised against lawful speech. 🚨BOMBSHELL EXPOSÉ: TREVOR PHILLIPS RIPS LID OFF LABOUR'S GROOMING GANGS COVER-UP 💣 Keir Starmer and the Labour Party Sabotaging National Inquiry to Hide Racial Targeting of White Girls and Decades of Failure in Their Own Councils In a devastating intervention, Sir Trevor Phillips has blown the whistle on what he calls a deliberate political cover-up at the heart of Britain's grooming gangs scandal. The former Equality and Human Rights Commission chair accuses Labour of sabotaging the national inquiry because of its explosive racial implications — and because so much of the abuse took place under Labour-controlled councils that did nothing to stop it. “The government clearly never wanted these two things to be put together,” Phillips declared. He points to Labour's efforts to downplay “the intersection of race and sexual predation,” insisting the perpetrators deliberately targeted victims because they were white and outside the groomers' community. “These children are chosen because of their race. They are chosen because they are white and because they’re outside the community of the groomers.” Phillips highlights the chilling uniqueness of these crimes: unlike typical child abuse kept hidden, grooming gangs operate in plain sight — with perpetrators knowing they are shielded. “The other thing is these people know that they are protected. They’re protected politically, they’re protected by social workers, they’re protected by local police. That is the scandal here.” He pulls no punches on why a full reckoning has been avoided: “Much of this took place in local Labour councils and the authorities who were supposed to be watching over this, stopping it, monitoring it and all the rest of it were controlled by those councils and they did nothing.” This is not just institutional failure — it's a politically motivated shield thrown over horrific, racially aggravated sexual exploitation that went on for years under Labour's watch. Right now, they deserve justice — and Britain deserves the full, fearless national inquiry that has been denied for far too long.
