483 days ago, I built my own web analytics out of frustration. I was using Plausible and loved its simplicity, but I felt stuck. Pageviews are nice, but they don’t tell you what makes money. So I built my dream tool: connect Stripe to traffic, and see where revenue actually comes from, so I can double down. Almost nobody cared. It took 120 days to reach $1k MRR. But I didn't mind. I was having fun. I shipped 117,869 lines of code to build features I needed myself. My only KPI was (and still is) features shipped. Slowly, word of mouth kicked in, and the SaaS started growing on its own. 16 months later: - $17K MRR - 983 paying customers - 1.2B pageviews tracked I wanted to quit many times. I’m competing with giants and VC-backed startups, in an overcrowded market, for a vitamin product. What changed everything was niching down: building ultra-specific features for my own problems and hoping others had the same ones. I don’t really do marketing. Most users come from word of mouth. But today is special. I never truly launched @DataFast_, so I made this video to finally do it. Hope you like it!

Why can't it? Can't Netflix predict whether or not you'll like every movie? Maybe their approach is not that complicated but I think it could be if they wanted it to be. The reason I say they might be predicting the engagement is because I had a post with only 1 view. With only 1 view they wouldn't have enough data to know if it was controversial or not. Maybe I'm just shadow banned though.

I don't think that the algorithm can predict the reaction for each specific post. I think it is more a generalisation. By default simple controversial posts get more reactions therefore if your post does not follow those standards it is almost shadow banned

Just tested Topaz Vs Crystal. Both of them made a good job upscaling the video but the results look pretty similar Which one do you think is better? Left or right? I will give you some time to try to guess and then tell you

I got a LTD on Mystrika from AppSumo that does a lot of it. It keeps the email accounts warm, schedules sequences, and tracks customers and responses. I tried using it for a small local market with a product that was hard to sell though and didn't have too much success. I plan to use it on another product soon though.

@wbetiago Regarding your discussion on your recent podcast episode about posts not reaching your followers, what if X isn't showing it to them because it already knows it won't get engagement. What if the algorithm already knows what our reaction to the post will be without showing it to us? I'm not saying I like this approach but it seems likely that their prediction is good enough to be right more often than not.

It's not a bug. Events dont reset at the end of the month. They're still in the database so you can see all your data since you installed DataFast. But since it's exceptional, I'll unblock you this time. Just send me a message on the chat plugin on your dashboard so I know your DataFast account plz!

Hey @marclou I think there's a bug in datafast that blocks me from seeing the events. It says I've exceeded the quota but I'm only on 7000/10000 events (I've exceeded them last month so I wonder if it just didn't clear the blocking screen with new month)

"Distribution" is becoming a cope term. It's a very loosely-defined word, and it has this air of unattainability about it. It's too easy to say you're limited by your lack of distribution, and curse those who "have it". Here's a reality check: - You can have 100k followers on X and still nobody gives a shit about your product. Your audience and your customers are not necessarily the same thing. - You can have a mailing list of 10,000 people and still get zero conversions due to timing, messaging, or lack of relevance. - You can have millions of people using your free product but nobody wants to pay for the upgrade. Just look at the number of celebrity business ventures that fail. Restaurants, clothing brands, etc. They all have "distribution" but in the end it didn't make a material difference. Success is down to a matrix of different factors. It's about building a product that solves a problem, marketing that communicates that well, pricing that people find fair but also allows you to grow the business, growing multiple different marketing / distribution channels by being valuable and / or interesting, and the skills to do all of the above multiple times over because you won't be successful the first time. If you are looking at successful people on X and scoffing that they are only there because of their "distribution" you're missing the forest for the trees.

@wbetiago Yep. It's crap. I recommend at least running a threads account in parallel if you don't want to completely abandon x for threads. People actually see your posts there. @ikoichi built some great scheduling software for it called @blacktwistapp too!

The current X algorithm has somehow dropped the concept of followers Instead it only promotes simple and polarizing ideas that put people against each other We want less algorithm ruling our lives!
