It's pretty simple if you don't like Syracuse University hiring Gerry McNamara as head coach and what that entails. Just stop being a fan and following the program. We don't need you or your negativity

@notpopular02 @4thandGame24 @Cusememes I’m not sure GMac is just implementing Boeheim’s scheme and brings a renewed fire that I think was a positive of that era. This program was elite for most of Boeheim’s tenure, so I don’t see it as a bad thing. Autry just wasn’t it.

@4thandGame24 @Cusememes Been a fan for 50 years and don't like the hire. Boehiem stayed too long and we need to get out from under his shadow. As far a GMAC goes I will support even though I don't like the hire.

This is the right move… Gerry McNamara was a part of the ONLY team to win an NCAA Tournament Title in Syracuse Men’s Basketball history (2003). He then guided the Orange to back-to-back Big East Championships (2005 & 2006). So Gerry knows the “Syracuse Standard”. To then learn under Hall-of-Famer Jim Boeheim as an assistant & help guide student-athletes to NCAA Tournament berths as a member of the coaching staff showed his translation from player to coach. Then he took over his own program as the head man at Siena. In 2 seasons as Head Coach of Saints Men’s Basketball, Siena went from 14-18 to 23-12 which included winning the MAAC Tournament & going to the NCAA Tournament for the 1st time since 2010 & playing top overall seed Duke to a 2-possession game (They were 15-14, 17-15, & 4-28 in the 3 seasons before Gerry, w/ 4-28 being the season right before he took over at Siena). Syracuse needs someone who knows the history ✅ (He’s a part of it) Knows the Northeast ✅ (Grew up in Scranton, PA) Doesn’t see Syracuse as a mere pit stop, but a destination ✅ (He’s chosen ‘Cuse more than once) This has been the only path in my opinion for a long time. He’s shown he can lift Siena from the basement. Who better to raise the Orange banner once again? He doesn’t belong anywhere else more than Home. The New Era for a City that Loves their Hoops can be spelled in 4 letters: G-M-A-C It’s about time. 🍊🏀

If you are a Syracuse fan and you are mad about this after watching Gerry win the MAAC and fight Duke with 5 guys as a 16 seed. Listen to his press conferences and listen to his composure. It is night and day. Gerry was one of the most revered figures in Syracuse basketball history and will be a phenomenal coach for Syracuse. Honestly should have been the coach when Boeheim retired over Autry. Did you all think we were going to get Calipari, or Pitino, who was the better option that you wanted? If you are bitter or butthurt or putting down this cuse news you 1 don’t know basketball and 2 are incredibly unrealistic. This was the right hire at the right time, and Syracuse fans should rejoice that we have a young coach with the talent and potential that @Coach_McNamara brings to the table. I’m excited to welcome him home.

Immediate thoughts on the Gerry McNamara hire for Syracuse: It’s high risk, high reward 🍊🏀 SU is essentially admitting that they got it wrong the first time by choosing Autry to succeed Boeheim when GMac was sitting right there. He’s inheriting a fanbase that, deservedly so, is so hungry to win and grows more impatient by the day. He won’t have time on his side But McNamara is beloved by Orange fans. He proved himself as a coach with Siena this year. If he was the choice that will generate the most NIL and resources, then he’s the guy. If it fails? You’ve alienated two program legends at once and set yourself back at least another few years. If it works out and he’s the guy to bring Syracuse basketball back to national prominence? It’s a hell of a story. And he’ll be a hero
