Folks as a youngster in secondary school I watched real life films about World War1&2 called ‘All our Yesterday’s’ It always left me feeling sad when I saw what so many soldiers went through; the sacrifices that they made to fight for our Freedoms that so many take for granted today; Tens of Millions lived on rations just enough to keep them alive as Britain rebuilt itself from the devastation; No 56inch Flat screen TV’s IPhones that takes photos & can connect to the other side of the world in seconds; a hot shower at the press of a button; smart cars branded merchandise costing hundreds of £’s etc etc What they survived on to rebuild this once great country was Moral Fibre Community Spirit & Respect; people worked & saved hard for the most basic of items & appreciated the little they had & worked so hard for( Later generations enjoyed & took full advantage of the freedoms that they had; the swinging 60’s into the 70’s & 80’s & then this country started losing it’s way its purpose & values & into the 90’s there were too many rights & too few or no responsibilities I do often wonder what they would think if they saw this country today; broken lost & angry; I’m certain that they would be stunned & so so disappointed! I personally state once again I love my country but I don’t like what it’s become & I certainly don’t like the direction in which it’s going; 35yrs ago when I first broke from police ranks to highlight what I saw going wrong within policing victim care & public safety I actually felt positive when as a serving police officer & saw society fractured & thought surely we can all work together & build Britain back Great Again; Now having given all my good years & in my small way trying to help make a little difference I’m old; tired & running out of life & I think I will die seeing a country I was born in full of Anger; Hatred Division & Broken; To be honest I TRULY feel lost sad & depressed; I sadly don’t have any children but I truly feel for all of you who do have; what future what hope is there for you & for them? I can only hope that one day the silent majority finally wake up & realise that we have a duty of care to our country & to the next generation to build a better & safer Britain & give them the best start; We have too many lost children with no no hope & no values no value of their life or others; just look at how many children are killing other children; what does it say about their parents when their children feel the need to join gangs to feel wanted & valued? Of course it’s not all children but sadly too many! I suppose the best I can do is just pray that one day Britain Wakes up & regains it’s lost Community Spirit Moral Fibre & Respect cos that will be a start on rebuilding what’s broken; I truly truly don’t know if & when that will happen & sadly I don’t see that happening anytime soon! Finally I see a sadness in our elderly’s eyes too many I know feel like me & even on here I see too many state that they are glad that they are heading towards the end of their lives; I see despair as I stated in much of our youth; I’ll finish on the main purpose of this post I’m certain all those who lost their lives in World War1&2 didn’t too it for people like me & too many other to be feeling like we do! All of those not only gave their best they have their all & the pertinent Question is? For What? Surely? Not for the overview I’ve given & what I personally see & feel & I’m certain I can’t be the only one with this view! God Bless & we certainly need his blessing that’s for sure! Thank You👋
