We believe that if you create a grant program that ties it to reconcile the budget and you allow blue states if they come to their senses and they want to avail themselves of election integrity proposals and ideas and policies they can draw down from a federal fund and use those those funds." This means states are NOT forced into following it. They only need to do it to get funds. Thank you, South Carolina. I’ve always said this campaign is job interview, and that interview is not over. The Governor’s Office belongs to the people of South Carolina, not anyone else. Now it’s time to come together, win in November, and build a future that is more affordable for families, more profitable for businesses, and a government that is accountable to you.

It is 10pm and Thune just got unanimous consent (meaning not one senator objected) for the Senate to adjourn 19 days (July 13th) meaning the Senate is going home after tonight’s votes. I will not be voting to re-open the floor until the Senate gets back to Washington. The Senate is literally running and not ONE senator objected to going on vacation before 4th of July. John Thune is running and hiding because he doesn’t want to get voter ID across the finish line.

Tonight I will vote present on the War Powers resolution. My opinion on the debate over war and executive power has not changed and I have voted that way several times. But since hostilities seem to be over and the President asked me to give consideration to his negotiating position, I will do so. My vote of present is a way to give the President more space and leverage to negotiate a lasting peace.

While I was proud to support Pamela Evette and grateful for her years of service to the people of South Carolina, the voters have made their decision. Pamela has been an outstanding Lieutenant Governor, and we are thankful for her leadership. I congratulate Alan Wilson on his victory tonight. He has served the people of South Carolina as Attorney General and brings years of experience to this race. Now, Republicans must unite behind our nominee and continue working to keep South Carolina strong.
