Today, a group of health charities, human rights organisations and unions have written to every hospital in the country. We’re asking hospital leaders to stand up to NHS England and say no to Palantir.
Here’s the briefing:

Palantir, a US spy-tech firm, has been given access to millions of NHS patient records.
Its founder has said the NHS should be 'ripped up'.
Join me in calling on the government to end the dangerous Palantir contract.

@skett2605@ZackPolanski You can only opt out of some data used only for research and planning. This data is deemed to be operational data and therefore not covered by the opt out.
@EugenePlaksienk@ZackPolanski They do has access to our records. That’s literally what the contract is for. But as it says it will be kept to high standards of security etc.
@ZackPolanski I thought I signed a piece of paper at my doctors surgery years ago to say I didn't want my records shared with agencies and only with certain health professionals.
What happened with that?
@ZackPolanski@Kathleen_Tyson_ How are the government going to ensure that Palantir actually fully deletes all the data of a patient that decides to opt out of their data being shared (currently you can opt out of its use for all research and planning - should be a full opt out option though for sharing it).
@ZackPolanski You can opt out of NHS data sharing for research and planning by using the NHS online service, via the NHS App, or by calling 0300 303 5678. Preventing your confidential patient information from being used for purposes beyond your direct care.
@chrislowndes Thank you for sharing this. My friends were stewarding that day (local Uni students) and I have shared the picture of them all in yellow. It’s caused much excitement. They have a few pre gig shots but nothing during. Thanks again.
Between the Wembley acts, the gaps were filled by broadcasts from other venues around the world. From our position we could not see the screens very well, so just heard the audio. Stewards began handing out water, later via hosepipes, as the heat was significant:
As we all look back at #LiveAid40, I would like to tell the story of my experience as a 20yo attending the Wembley show on 13 July 1985. These are never-before seen photos, taken on my Canon A1 with a 50mm lens from my position centre front in the crowd

@HeadWarriorTWM I have spoken at many SCC meetings and I think it’s fair to say they are not riveting events. I have huge respect for local councillors, the decisions they make are important and influence the city I live in. Perhaps this was just a way to grab people’s attention and it worked.
@AdeByrne I tried to stop them having my data - not possible. I tried to raise my concerns with the people making the decisions - not listened to. I voted to change the government - no change. I moaned on X. All out of options now.
@digitalhealth2 Good thinking Joe. Work out your case of need and then work out your edge case. A national patient record is an edge case benefitting less than 5% of the population.
@jon_trickett How can it be that the British population DID NOT KNOW that they could 'OPT OUT' of having their medical records used for Palantir's nefarious purposes.
