@suesconsideredt @JackieMorrisArt @RobGMacfarlane @malcolmguite Looks a wonderful combination of words & pictures representing a world I love. Well done for successful travel planning (scary?) It took me several years once to be sure of where the bus stop was at the end of our road!

Perforate St John’s wort takes 1st part of its name from the perforated appearance of its leaves. In folklore it was believed the plant could deter evil spirits, & the devil’s hatred of it was so great he tried to destroy it with a needle, hence the perforations. #wyrtwednesday

@BrennanMartine In the end I was, but at the time I wasn't sure I'd even find them again!😊
English

@janerock37 I thought you were happy you had to go back again for another photo because the flower is so nice.

Highlight of a short walk in Ashford Hill Meadows this afternoon, assumed trifid bur-marigold, growing in an area that in most years would still be a pond! #wildflowerhour

@Sighs_Matters 🤣
Thank you, but sadly I shall not be able to send holiday posts. I belong to the dinosaur age & have no means of getting pictures onto twitter away from home. Hopefully, though, I shall get opportunities to catch up with other people's posts!
English

@janerock37 Since when did Eastbourne start setting restrictions! lol 😂
I look forward to your holiday posts. 😎
English

@Sighs_Matters Later this week. Getting into a right state with the packing at the moment as I didn't check the allowances!
English

@janerock37 I thought you was supposed to be on holiday somewhere? 😎
English

@OneLovlyGoddess Thank you! Yes, I like stunning, & not only because it caused me to lose enough consciousness that I didn't set the camera right!

@DRRDsStoryhive @suesconsideredt @BSBIbotany I wonder? As far as I can ascertain Galium sp, G rotundifolium has leaves generally in whorls of 4, and they are rather rounder. 😕flora-on.pt/index.php?q=Ga…
English

@suesconsideredt @BSBIbotany Definitely Galium sp, G rotundifolium? Round-leaved bedstraw.

Redshank seen in masses by the track edge as I entered Grovely Wood (near Great Wishford) yesterday, a sweet violet (I think) in an open area within it, and squinancywort seen on downland just after I exited. #wildflowerhour

@BrennanMartine @BSBIbotany @BSBI_Ireland Good find! Your fungi were clearly more obliging than mine!

Pale Persicaria (Persicaria lapathifolia) growing in Giant Polypore fungi for #unusualplaces #wildflowerhour @BSBIbotany @BSBI_Ireland

@OrchidCatherine It looks like a female silver washed fritillary, though I have done only as you have, using google. I have also looked up other fritillaries likely to be found in the region & it doesn't appear to match any of those.
English

@NearbyWild Thank you! When it came to it, I just couldn't resist taking a picture of that fungus!
English

@suesconsideredt @EnglishHeritage These must count as unusual places for this week's wildflowerhour challenge. I wonder if you found any flowers at either!

@MiketheWarden @CotswoldsAONB Love seeing these old milestone signs!
English

One of the 50th Anniversary Projects by @CotswoldsAONB Wardens in the Avon Valley District has been to repaint the mile stone on the A46 north of Tormarton where the Cotswold Way crosses the road.
It shows 10 miles by road to Bath; but 17 miles via the picturesque Cotswold Way!

@janerock37 The meadow photo is stunning, feel I’m sitting in it! I guess it was full of insects, too.
