Little noticed by media and Labour MPs - attempt to rid of Starmer caused surge in Borrowing Costs: Yield on benchmark 10-year gilts broke above the 5% - levels not seen since 2008. The 30-year gilt yield climbed to 5.8% - 28-year high. Don’t think all this does not affect you ..

James O’Brien just went nuclear: “Farage is a massive coward.” Says he’s banged on about free speech for 12 years but won’t come on LBC, even tried pre-approved questions then still bottled it. Hear it for yourself 👇Cc: @politixintheuk @Nigel_Farage

Did BBC News coverage fan the flames of a leadership challenge to the PM? Join us on Saturday at 07.45 on BBC1 @BBCBreakfast or 15.45 on the News Channel. Or watch on the @BBCiPlayer from midnight tonight. Here's a taste of viewer Judith Brown's opinion:

Barnham is going to lose this by election. The numbers do stack up, but more importantly electors who voted for Keir Starmer and his manifesto are now signing up as Labour members in their thousands. That shift matters, because it shows a move away from passive support towards active participation. Those voters are not simply waiting for outcomes, they are choosing to influence the direction of the party from within, particularly on the question of building a closer relationship with Europe. It changes the dynamic of the contest entirely. What may have looked settled on paper begins to look far less certain when there is clear evidence of organised engagement at this level. So if you want to be involved, and you want to ensure that Keir Starmer remains as Labour leader and Prime Minister through to 2029, then participation is essential. Joining the Labour Party gives you that voice. Membership starts at around fifty pounds a year, with reduced rates of roughly two pounds a month available for those who are retired or meet the relevant criteria. It could prove to be some of the best money you ever spend. If you feel that strongly, take part, have your say, and send a clear message to the Parliamentary Labour Party to get on with the job, stop the internal manoeuvring, and unite behind the leadership. join.labour.org.uk

"We do need to reunite the the progressive left, and Jeremy is part of that." Labour MP John McDonnell says he told Keir Starmer to reinstate Jeremy Corbyn as a member to fend off Reform UK.

I just don’t think there should be a leadership challenge. Keir Starmer has a massive mandate given to him by the British people at the general election. I don’t think anybody in the Cabinet has a right to try to overturn that. I still hope there won’t be a leadership contest. If there is, it’s probable that Keir will stand himself and in which case, I’d be in his camp. What we need now is continuity. We need Labour to deliver on their manifesto. We haven’t even been two years into this government. telegraph.co.uk/gift/d0332ac86…
