The Herald reports that 55,000 people attended the hīkoi to Kill the Bill. When asked why he wasn't listening to them, Chris Luxon said he was focused on improving outcomes for Māori, "not this stuff." By "this stuff," of course, Luxon means honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

@RawiriTaonui And yet luxon could have avoided all of this even starting, but chose not to, and is happy to just sit and watch this all blow up

@publicaddress Thing is this is another ACT coalition item that National then “has” to implement. Also explains why they are light on detail. It’s all reckons.

#BHN Simeon Brown made it clear (when it was politically advantageous) that Councils know what's best for Council. If this was true, why is this Government now mandating so many things that Councils must do...I thought they knew best? #nzpol

Anyone else having a nightmare with @FlyAirNZ booking management site? Can’t seat select properly, can’t request upgrades, it’s like the status recognition isn’t pulling through? Oh and you can’t easily go back to the home page either 🤔

@RichardHills_ Not to mention the free ride of his mortgage being paid and the tax benefits he gets from his investment properties and the tax payer paying the rent of his Electorate office which he owns

Can we stop talking about our most vulnerable citizens in the most dehumanising way. At a time joblessness is increasing. His free ride to parliament from his apartment across the road probably cost more than someone on a benefit gets in a week. What’s “free ride” mean?
Christopher Luxon@chrisluxonmp

There won’t be any free rides under our Government if you’re on a Jobseeker benefit. If you’re not meeting your obligations to find a job, your benefit could be cancelled.

Mortgage relief is on the way because we have delivered lower inflation, with the first OCR cut since March 2020 today.

The Official Cash Rate has just been cut for the first time in four and a half years. That means the Reserve Bank is easing interest rates, and your mortgage repayments will get more affordable.

So in order to get Pharmac to fund the cancer drugs they’d promised, National had to also fund all the other drugs ahead of them on the priority list. It’s a good outcome for recipients, but National played themselves with their rash pre-election promise. newshub.co.nz/home/politics/…

If you completely ignore that we need rail enabled ferries you get a lot of people agreeing with Farrer. He’s spreading misinformation or is it disinformation as he probably knows full well.

We note that as well as its significant cost blow-outs, a previous proposal for replacement ferries would not have seen ships arrive until at least 2026 and, due to their much larger size, questions remained about whether those ships would have been safe to sail the Tory Channel.
