If you’re looking for a storyteller who can actually make people give a damn, we should talk. I’m transitioning off active-duty this summer - and looking to find my next big thing.

Jaslow: I really empathize with those who have to serve under poor leadership right now—whether that’s the commander-in-chief or the secretary of defense. There seems to be a lot of theater and posturing that might make them feel the power of the positions they’re in, but it’s coming at the expense of real people who are risking their lives. And you also have family members here at home who are concerned about those service members and want them to be serving under steady leadership—who want clarity on the mission and why they are being asked to sacrifice so much. And I don’t know that we’re getting that right now.

What I wish this message articulated was WHY we moved from a mission of deterrence to active combat. That's not just helpful for buy-in from the American public, but for the troops that are asked to carry out orders of their Commander-in-Chief.

What a badass. Look at the female pilot who was just shot down by friendly fire, ejected, and is still smiling and unshaken.

Before having to ‘Charlie Mike’ or continue the mission. You don’t get to attend the funeral. You don’t have time to get your questions answered about the circumstance around their loss. You just have to Charlie Mike. Please keep them in your thoughts too. #AskNot 2/2

My heart doesn't just break for their families, but those who served alongside of the fallen. It's difficult to experience loss while deployed. Not just because you can love your battle buddies as much as your family. But because you get all of one day to grieve. 1/2

Somewhere in America right now, the next of kin of three servicemembers are receiving a knock on their front door from a casualty assistance officer and a chaplain who are about to notify them that their loved one is no longer with us. Keep them in your thoughts, please.

And it's now up to Congress to make sure we’re doing so. 7/7

Nothing is more important following last night’s attack on Iran than keeping our servicemembers and their families who are sacrificing alongside them in our thoughts. The partisan posturing that is taking place by those looking to score points in this moment... 1/

We live in a dangerous world, and military action will be needed at times to keep us safe. But there will always be collateral damage, and for that reason we must be judicious about how we wage acts of war, even when the threats are clear and the danger is great. 6/

Not only to understand why the action was believed to be imperative, but as to where we go from here and to what extent the lives of our men and uniform will be risked and to achieve what objectives. 5/

Hell ya, I'll be very engaged. I was lucky enough to make it back from the Iraq War, but I happen to know Americans who didn't. The country they died for deserves better leadership than it has right now, and I'm ready to do something to change that.

Working people don't have the voice that they need in Congress, but should. One of the reasons I'm running for Congress is to ensure that families like the one I grew up in, and kids like I once was, have a voice in Washington. Thanks to @AaronParnas for this convo yesterday.
