What I wish this message articulated was WHY we moved from a mission of deterrence to active combat.
That's not just helpful for buy-in from the American public, but for the troops that are asked to carry out orders of their Commander-in-Chief.

New: The strike yesterday in Kuwait that has now claimed the lives of six US service members was a direct hit on a makeshift operations center — in what was described as a triple wide trailer — at the port of Shuaiba, a source familiar said. Somewhere in America right now, the next of kin of three servicemembers are receiving a knock on their front door from a casualty assistance officer and a chaplain who are about to notify them that their loved one is no longer with us.

CENTCOM Update TAMPA, Fla. – As of 9:30 am ET, March 1, three U.S. service members have been killed in action and five are seriously wounded as part of Operation Epic Fury. Several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions — and are in the process of being returned to duty. Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing. The situation is fluid, so out of respect for the families, we will withhold additional information, including the identities of our fallen warriors, until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified.

We live in a dangerous world, and military action will be needed at times to keep us safe. But there will always be collateral damage, and for that reason we must be judicious about how we wage acts of war, even when the threats are clear and the danger is great.

I was lucky enough to make it back from the Iraq War, but I happen to know Americans who didn't.
The country they died for deserves better leadership than it has right now, and I'm ready to do something to change that.

One of the reasons I'm running for Congress is to ensure that families like the one I grew up in, and kids like I once was, have a voice in Washington.
