Great to meet MGI Holdings today, the new owners of the Grants building, and hear their plans.
They made a serious effort to retain Vue, offering a 2/3 rent reduction. While that wasn’t successful, the focus now is on what comes next.
Early signs are strong:
✅ Nuffield Health and Nando’s renewing
✅ New leisure operators in advanced talks
✅ Two very interested cinema operators in discussion

A brilliant morning in Addiscombe attending the opening of the new David Prowse Gym.
A proper community idea from Addiscombe & Shirley Park Residents' Association, championed by Cllr @Jeet__Bains - honouring a local legend who inspired generations to stay active.
We had fitness challenges, Croydon Calisthenics, Star Wars characters, and a fantastic turnout from local residents.
The gym is free, fully accessible, and there’s even a brand new dog exercise area.
If you haven’t been yet, get down to Addiscombe Recreation Ground and give it a go - you might even discover your inner Jedi.
The Force is strong in Addiscombe!

Labour closed Purley Pool.
They didn’t prioritise it then - and they don’t now.
I’ve got this project approved and moving:
✅ New full leisure centre
✅ 25m 6-lane pool
✅ Legal agreements signed
If Labour get back in, they could scrap it.

Nearly 600 local people petitioned for a safer crossing outside St Thomas Becket School.
In 2022, I backed them and presented their petition. Labour did nothing.
I became Mayor - and now it’s delivered.

We used tagging of convincted burglars successfully in Bedfordshire when I was Police and Crime Commissioner. Coupled with an amazing Op Maze and Offender Management Team - burglaries fell by about 58%, the biggest reductions in the country I think. I wish we had done the same with prolific shoplifters. @JasonForCroydon is right to look at what @KatyBourne is doing in Sussex.
