
Today the County Govt of Elgeyo Marakwet through the Department of Water, Environment, and Climate Change led by CECM Jason Lagat in collaboration with the World Resources Institute (WRI) a global research organization focused on environmental issues, sustainable development, and climate change held an inception meeting geared towards enhancing governance through policy development.
The meeting marks a significant step towards developing of Elgeyo Marakwet Forest and Landscape Restoration Policy and Bill aiming at protecting the Spencer line.
This collaboration is part of the county's commitment to growing 60 million trees in five years, contributing to a greener and more sustainable environment at the same time restoration of the hanging valley.
WRI's expertise in forest and landscape restoration will be instrumental in shaping the county's policies and strategies.
In attendance included;Department of Kenya Meteorological services, department of lands and physical planning, department of National environment management authority, Kenya Forest service, Department of Agriculture and livestock and Kenya Forestry research institute.
