@TheXMatriarch This is (another) reason why fewer men what to get married these days, women are out here throwing the word divorce out there for the smallest things. I saw an AITAH where the woman was considering divorce because her husband kept tightening the lids on jars too tight.

A lot of people hear “he lied about grabbing breakfast” and think, You’re considering divorce over that? But that’s NOT the wound. The wound is realizing your husband’s instinct under pressure is to edit reality so he doesn’t have to deal with your reaction. That damages a marriage. Small lies teach the nervous system that the next conversation may not be the full truth. You start wondering what got softened, deleted, minimized, or managed before it reached you. And once a wife feels managed instead of respected with the truth, she stops feeling like a partner and starts feeling like the audience for a controlled version of events. This may not be divorce-worthy yet...But it’s repair-worthy NOW. A husband who wants trust back can’t keep saying, “I lied because I knew you’d be upset.” That means he’s making her reaction the excuse for his dishonesty. The repair is simple, but not easy: Tell the truth while it’s still small. Let her have her feelings. Stop protecting your comfort at the expense of her reality.

Between Minions 3 underperforming, Supergirl Flopping hard, Moana remake about to face plant, Mando and Grogu doing the worst performance for a SW film, and Masters of the Universe tanking hard, this has actually been a disastrous summer for the traditional Blockbusters.

2 cuts of ‘SUPERGIRL’ were screened to test audiences — one from Craig Gillespie & one from DC Studios. Gillespie’s version was 11 minutes longer and featured more of the villain, Krem. The cut from DC Studios was the one chosen for release. (Source: hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-f…)

If everyone is gonna speak their mind so will I and I have a feeling how the rest of the year will go for DC. 1. Supergirl will be bashed 2. In Lanterns they will say why is John Stewart black? 3. Clayface they will say “who asked for this” It’s too predictable.

@deegztweetz It’ll be worth watching 6 months from now on a boring Wednesday from my couch on HBOmax, but that’s about it. Not trekking to the theater and putting down real money for this one.

@doc_gero The streaming service system has hurt movies like this too. Nothing about “the Mandalorian and Grogo” or “Supergirl” makes me want or need to see them now in theaters, when I know in 3 months I’ll be able to watch them on Disney+ or HBOMax for “free” from the comfort of my couch.

👇Wokeness aside, “Mandalorian & Grogu,” “He-Man,” & “Supergirl” at *best* made sense as movies produced and released 15 years ago or so, when movie tickets didnt cost upwards of 20 dollars a pop & with a few snacks to accompany it, we’re talking potentially 200 dollars just for mom, dad, junior & sis to enjoy a couple hours of entertainment when they could easily veg at home in front of their TVs or parked in front of their iPads or on phones. There’s nothing compelling about these movies that would justify that kind of expense in the world the average middle class family or below exists in
Erin Underwood@ErinUnderwood

I am growing exhausted by the constant onslaught of people posting the equivalent of a Fail Publicity Campaign for a movie that hasn’t even come out yet. Could we please just let people decide for themselves? Love it or hate it, it’s just kind of rude to other people who are just regular people wanting to see a movie to have so many people jumping on the Fail Bandwagon…. And most of the posts are written in such a way that they are delighting in trying to make it fail…. Because that’s what the algorithm rewards. Whether this film lives or dies is not the point. The point is that other people who just want to go see a movie are feeling like they can’t go see the movie they want to see because it feels like everyone is pressuring them not to see it…. Or pressuring them to hate it. People deserve to go see the movies they enjoy. People also deserve to avoid seeing the movies they don’t want to see. But nobody deserves to have the internet telling them what they should feel good about seeing and what they should feel bad about seeing. There is so little joy in the world right now, why take away someone else’s joy just because you don’t want to see a movie? It is okay to see supergirl if you want to see supergirl.

@doc_gero The “let’s get the feminists to the theater to show up the male chauvinists” strategy may or may not be real… but if it is, it’s failed miserably every time it’s been used so they should probably stop using that one.

👇I think it's interesting. By way of example, consider the new "He Man" movie, which has grossed about 80M dollars, far short of the 400M it needs to even hope to break even. Cataclysmically bad numbers - major, major disaster. One big reason why it failed is it had no market - there was no demand for this movie. It tried to create it, but didn't work. Same thing for "Supergirl." No market. Similar arc. We all see this as an impending financial disaster - it's obvious. But now we have the vaguely-simian looking lead actress, every chance she gets for an interview, explaining why Supergirl is gay, why she hates men, etc. You could say this would cause men to not want to see this movie - but lets be fair, its not like they would have seen it anyways. But now when the movie utterly flops they can say it's because of "misogyny." They also might be able to get marginally more people in the theater who will watch it to support the "sisterhood," or a few more to hate-watch it. I DK, just thoughts bouncing around my head this morning
Script Trooper@ScriptTrooper

I don't think Milly Alcock saying Supergirl is gay matters at this point. This movie was doomed regardless.

@RealDianeYap @Afrofrycook You’re right, no one will die without sex. Nor with they have withdrawals or DT’s like an addict would. But it’s been shown time and time again what sexual incompatibility can do to the health of a relationship, and you seem to want to completely ignore that information.

@Afrofrycook This analogy fails because elimination is a need without which you will die. Sex is not. So it’s more like a house missing a TV. No big deal.

What men have taught me this week is that but for the sex, your husband would leave you. Maybe that’s not all you are to him, you do other useful things too like take care of the kids, do the chores, etc. but without the sex, he doesn’t want you. How depressing is that?

@RealDianeYap There’s shades of grey here too. Is she shutting off for a medical reason, like she has cancer or something? Or a religious reason, like she’s became a nun? Or is she shutting off just because she doesn’t want to with him? Like she’d go bang the neighbor right now, but not you.

Men hate this, they call it impossible, they call me abnormal and asexual. But what’s the alternative? “Everything else about you is not enough. If I don’t get to use your holes, I’m leaving to find someone else because sex is more important”? That’s romantic?
Diane Yap@RealDianeYap

The most romantic thing a man can express to a woman is that even if she never has sex with him again, he wants to be with her forever. Because his love for her as a person transcends any animal urge. This is even more romantic if he has a high sex drive.

@RealDianeYap People’s libidos vary from none to completely insatiable. Just because you would be fine without sex doesn’t mean everyone will, and it’s not helping your argument trying to hammer home that point.

While I'm sure plenty of women want more of something from their husbands in marriage, it's interesting that there's no single common priority, like sex for men. We really need to teach men the lesson that their "needs" are not an emergency. They will be just fine without sex.

@AnaboliclyJelqd I mean, up until like the 70’s a wife job was basically to raise the kids and be a domestic servant and concubine to her husband… not saying men should cave to all of feminism’s demands but we should probably treat our wives more like equal partners than we do now.
