The scenario for Good Will Hunting was written by notorious Hollywood script doctor William Goldman, who also wrote Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Princess Bride, and All the President's Men. Damon and Affleck were cast to play the part of the penniless screenwriters who made it in Hollywood by none other than Miramax’s Harvey Weinstein. Good Will Hunting fit right into Miramax’s ‘90s recipe of making movies with broad audience appeal but enough veneer of intellectualism to win oscars (with vigorous campaigning). One of the most striking aspects of the entire Weinstein fracas is that Damon and Affleck were never asked, not once, not even when they went on Rogan, what they knew when about Weinstein allegedly preying on movie starlets. Affleck and Damon are ultra-wealthy and ultra-respected even though their entire career is built on a lie orchestrated by the most infamous conman and sex criminal in Hollywood history.
