What Johnson Sakaja did is just a smaller version of what William Ruto has been doing and what Uhuru Kenyatta did. Over 100 + “advisors” at State House, some with zero serious qualifications, earning millions. So tell me, what message did that send? That connections matter more than competence. That loyalty beats qualifications. That public office is a reward system. And now we’re shocked governors are doing the same? Let's be serious. We turned governors into mini-presidents, with unchecked hiring powers, weak laws, and no real consequences. So they hire friends. Influencers. Loyalists. Anyone. Health docket? Finance? Planning? It doesn’t matter. As long as you’re “one of us.” And it doesn't end with governors, even in other public offices. At NCIC, TSC, Ministries, even schools, hospitals, so long as you are connected, you get positions. This is the system we've allowed. Gaucho is not the problem. The rot is. Until we demand strict qualification laws and strip these unchecked powers, nothing will change. As well as for governors, until we trim their excessive powers, nothing will change either. We’ll just keep watching unqualified people run your lives. And tweeting about it.

I come from a poverty striken county. Majority of the people in Taita Taveta County live in abject poverty. But I was not ready for Tharaka Nithi County. I have felt so bad today. Kenyans are suffering so much out here. Something needs to change.
