The orthopedic surgeon had the trooper hold my shoulders down as the doctor laid across my good leg, grabbed my knee and ankle, and jerked them in different directions to fully break the leg. Trooper later told me that it was worse than anything else he ever saw in his career.

@TimCameron @casualclubguy I was waiting for someone to chime in on Gibson Island Club. For a private neighborhood and club jutting out into the bay famous for sailing, the outline of the skipjack is next level.

@casualclubguy Surprised not see Columbia CC, Gibson Island Club, or Woodmont on this list. All three are among the best courses in the state and pretty solid logos. IMO, Gibson Island has the 2nd best logo in the state behind Burning Tree.

Is Maryland just about crab cakes and football, because it doesn’t seem to be about elite logos…. There are a few classics but I thought there would be greater depth What did I miss?

@wayne_m159 <Puts on tinfoil hat> Insurance companies get kickbacks from overseas middlemen to total high end cars for entirely normal repairs and leave their own customers in the lurch when they then sell those cars through salvage auctions. <Removes tinfoil hat>

This D5 Audi S8 was misdiagnosed by an Audi Dealer service department and declared mechanically totaled because they assumed it had an Engine failure which would cost about $35,000 to replace, So YouTuber RichRebuilds then bought it for $9,500 only to discover that a failed starter generator for the 48volt system was the culprit- a significantly cheaper & easier fix. Considering how complex these modern luxury cars are, in addition to the gatekeeping of proprietary software for diagnostics, replacement parts & workshop schematics by the manufacturers in connivance with the Dealers - Only Governments and other regulatory bodies can counter all these with thorough implementation of ‘Right to repair laws’.

@Don_K_Williams Wild that this super-sub’s exploits made him a worldwide sensation before any of these college kids were born. They could have learned a thing or two from him.

Watching pros subbed on with 2 min left & busting their butts!! Reminds me of the time I gave a #collegesoccer player a chance to show what he could do last 5 min & he said “naw, it’s okay” & refused to go in Said he was embarrassed & “Didn’t want to play scrub minutes” I knew at that moment his focus was ME>WE I later explained to him that 5 good min can lead to 10 that can lead to 15, 20 etc Players: Take what you get and MAKE something happen, earn coaches trust 5 min at a time if that’s what you get! Coaches play the players they trust on off thr pitch @SRUSA_Official

Really proud of M. He earned a varsity letter as a freshman during his high school lacrosse team’s end of season celebration yesterday! He worked hard all season and while it was a tough year in many ways, the team really got along well and supported one another all the way.

The curved line outside the penalty box is not decorative. It has one job. And it is more important than most people realise. It is called the penalty arc. That small D-shaped curve sitting just outside the top of the penalty area. A lot of fans have even looked at it thousands of times without ever stopping to ask what it actually does. Here is the answer. Under Law 14 of the IFAB Laws of the Game, every player except the penalty taker and the goalkeeper must be at least 9.15 metres away from the penalty spot when a penalty kick is taken. The arc is simply how that rule is drawn onto the pitch. The penalty spot is 11 metres from the goal line. The penalty area itself only extends 5.5 metres behind that spot toward the halfway line. Without the arc, a defender could legally stand right on the edge of the box, just 5.5 metres from the spot, and that would violate the required distance without technically breaking any visible boundary. The arc closes that gap. It is drawn with a 9.15-metre radius centred exactly on the penalty mark, bulging outward to guarantee that every player behind it is the correct distance away. That is its only function. It plays no role in free kicks, corners or any other situation in open play. The moment the penalty is taken, the arc becomes irrelevant again until the next one. Referees check it before every penalty kick. Players who step inside it before the ball is struck are penalised for encroachment. My name is Ajoje. I am a FIFA Licensed Agent and International Sports Lawyer. I write on the Law and Business of Football, a lot. Repost and Follow if you want to read more posts like this.

What exactly is the function of this semi-oval arc at the edge of the box?

@israel_ajoje Genuine question. The distances measured are in metres and make sense mathematically. 11 and 5.5. The game was codified in England in the 19th century though. They didn't measure in metres but in yards. 'The 18 yard box' being the penalty area for example.

@DaveScarangella I miss Rick on here. Met him when he covered our Nationwide Tour event and kept up with him for many years afterwards. Worked with his daughter too when she was with SoMD newspapers.

One more Rick Snider memory: Just finished 14.7 miles on the bike, and I used to text him when I'd do something like that. I'd then wait 5 minutes and would get a text back usually saying "is that all? I did 15.1 yesterday." That's how competitive the old boy was :)

Bandit on your six -- break! 35 years ago, Chuck Yeager's Air Combat (1991) was published by Electronic Arts. Featuring the legendary pilot as technical consultant, the game includes his digitized voice for mission briefings, advice, and praise (he also had a very big say in game development and features, of course). You can fly in over 50 historical missions across World War II (P-51 Mustang dogfights), Korea (F-86 Sabre), and Vietnam eras. It also had a pretty powerful mission creator, allowing you to mix any aircraft, eras, and opponents for endless custom battles. The VCR-style recording was a ncie feature too, so you could analyze your flights and missions afterwards.

Congratulations to Kevin! As a Baltimore Kid during that time period, I was stoked that @BaltimoreBlast players @profedesmond and Bruce Savage were called up. Bummed that Tim Wittman wasn’t.

After the NASL folded and before MLS was founded, the @USMNT called up players from the professional indoor game to play at the highest level, including qualifying for the World Cup. Kevin Crow, Class of 2026, discusses making that transition ⤵️
