The best large tracts of land were designated as public parks. Columbia CC started in DC, but had to move to Maryland to accommodate a proper 18 hole course. Prior to golf reaching DC, the district also had a very established city club culture (Met Club, Cosmos, etc). DC elite already had “in town” club memberships, so the “country” clubs were built in then-rural areas around the perimeter of city that allowed relatively easy access by horse or car. Chevy was actually a fox hunting club before becoming a country club, which is reflected on their logo.

@casualclubguy Surprised not see Columbia CC, Gibson Island Club, or Woodmont on this list. All three are among the best courses in the state and pretty solid logos. IMO, Gibson Island has the 2nd best logo in the state behind Burning Tree.

Is Maryland just about crab cakes and football, because it doesn’t seem to be about elite logos…. There are a few classics but I thought there would be greater depth What did I miss?

@stoolpresidente Doubt you feel the same way as the Google reviewers (would predict a score in 7s from you). But definitely worth reviewing because of these reviews.

Hard to know what RDS would have done. But the move to respond to Callais IMMEDIATELY was indisputably spurred by the VA referendum. After Texas and California, detente was possible. Louise Lucas blew it up and Dems are suffering the consequences.
David Weigel@daveweigel

DeSantis is very timid and cautious and would have just played with daisies had the mean Virginia Dems not held a referendum. I was born at 7 am yesterday and fully believe this.

No one is worthy of worship. I was recently on Ben Sasse’s Not Dead Yet podcast, and man what a great conversation we had. We talked about faith, family, success and so much more. If you don’t know, back in December Ben was diagnosed with stage four metastasized pancreatic cancer and he started this platform to navigate life with his diagnosis. Super proud of this one and being able to chat with two extraordinary guys! Please give this a listen and show your support: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/chr…

The tattoo on his chest is not just a swastika it's not just a Nazi symbol. It's VERY specific. The tattoo of "Totenkoof"that he has on his chest is of the Nazi watch guards who stood over concentration camps watchtowers and purposely shot Jews at will from within those walls. This is what pod save America is now this is what the political and electoral left is now.

Graham Platner isn’t just our best and only chance to beat Susan Collins, he’s a good, decent man who’s struggled and grown and is always trying to do better. I hope everyone with reservations takes a little time to get to know the real life version of him, not what the algorithm throws in our faces. Clearly, that’s what so many people in Maine have done - from all different walks of life and political persuasions.

@JakeSherman Huge opportunity for the DP World Tour to offer a faster track back for players like Rahm, Bryson, and Cam Smith in exchange for multi-year commitments to play in a set number of events for the next few years.

The circus is running low on funds. just wrap this thing up. let the few players that can play start their year suspension from PGA Tour so they can play with the pros.

🚨👀⛳️ #BREAKING@wdsu out of Louisiana is reporting that LIV Golf’s New Orleans event slated for June 2026 is likely to be postponed, citing LIV’s financial issues. “Sources tell WDSU the state of Louisiana is postponing the event until LIV can restructure financially and find additional sources of funding.” (H/t @JoshACarpenter)

The WHCA alleged shooter wasn’t some nut job lurking on the fringes of society, forgotten by the system. He was well-educated, credentialed, employed, and institutionally formed. That’s what makes this so disturbing. At first glance, this doesn’t look like a breakdown of the system, it looks more like a product of it. Academia, media, and politics helped build the moral permission structure. Let that sink in.

I want you to look at this headline and understand it literally translates to: “How Elon Musk used his business to benefit himself and his businesses” Just beyond parody.

NEW: Elon Musk took $500 million in loans out at SpaceX, a move that would have been illegal at a public company. It's just one example of the years of financial engineering at the helm of his companies. Latest investigation with @susannecraig nytimes.com/2026/04/24/tec…

@egkeller Great answer. And I’m sure leading figures in party back then like Sam Nunn, Andrew Young, and Jimmy Carter probably pushed to get it over the finish line.

It literally was--and not just hotels, there were union disputes around other event venues in '88. Just because something is an item on a pro/con list doesn't mean it's disqualifying. ATL not having enough union hotels is a problem for Dems, but I wouldn't be shocked if DNC is there anyway.
