@HutsulArcher73 @JayisDreeming @GabrielDeledda Okay, quick question, do you believe that the Greek gods exist? If not, then I fail to see why you and contending with my point. The Illiad is a mythologized version of an event of which the actual, precise details are lost.

Andromeda, princesa de Etiopía según la mitología griega, siempre ha sido representada en el cine de Hollywood como una mujer blanca. Y a nadie le importó nunca.

Imagine the outrage if a historically non-White character like Pocahontas were made White in a movie. Yet it’s considered acceptable to make all historically White characters non-White in movies. This is racism against White people.

@KeeperofReal16 @GabrielDeledda Not on a consistent basis, especially since the fresco you present essentially Latinizes the characters. Ovid, one of Rome's most famous poets, described Andromeda as having dark skin.

@HutsulArcher73 @GabrielDeledda And while hardly the original creators of the story, the Romans did not get the idea of Andromeda having dark skin out of nowhere.

@HutsulArcher73 @GabrielDeledda Those same vases were limited in what colors and shades could be used, and those of Levantine or ancient Arabian heritage were typically not portrayed as much darker than Greeks. Andromeda was usually described as either Aethiopian or Levantine in these stories. Hardly "white"

@MasterTainment @Its_a_dryheat @TheAndrewNadeau Dry Heat over here is really going out of their way to self-report that they do not know much about Greek Mythology, because one character in particular has been whitewashed for centuries already: Andromeda.

Harriet Tubman was a real person. Helen is a myth. A glorified fictional character. If you really want a Harriet Tubman movie with Sydney Sweeney, make it. Ain't nobody stopping you. In fact, I WANT y'all to make and release it so you can experience how stupid you sound with the poor box office.

“Lupita Nyong’o can’t be Helen of Troy!!! 😡😡😡” Oh really? Cuz it made you super mad and ready to fight over her, and that’s kind of Helen’s whole thing.

Did most people actually care that Alexa Davalos depicted Andromeda, a character who was from "Aethiopia?" No, they didn't. Will most people care much that Lupita Nyongo'o is Helen of Troy? A character that, mind you, whose presence is minimal in the Odyssey? Probably not.

And on a related note, it is not like this is the first time a character has been cast by someone of a different ethnicity. This extends to art such as drawings and paintings as well. Andromeda is a perfect example of this, especially in that awful Clash of the Titans movie.

@Joecool590098 @KaeleyT @MattWalshBlog But hey, I guess those shady civil rights advocates were pushing for a heinous conspiracy of "Jim Crow is bad" and that Jim Crow itself was by no means the product of conspiracy. It is not like we can trace its immediate origin to the "Compromise of 1877" and the violence before.

@Joecool590098 @KaeleyT @MattWalshBlog Framing egalitarianism as a negative thing is a huge self-report. Either you don't fully grasp what that means, or you genuinely believe in having a stratified society where the people at the bottom have few to no rights and those above are afforded privileges.

What in God’s green earth is @mattwalshblog’s point? Are we now supposed to question the injustice of segregation or something? Heaven forbid the people fighting a just cause should care about optics or try to generate public sympathy. We never do that on the right, do we? 🤦🏻‍♀️ Just genuinely don’t understand the point of this.

We have literally been lied to about everything Matt Walsh “The Rosa Parks story you were taught in school was fake too. This was not just some woman on her way home from work. Civil rights leaders thought Parks would make a sympathetic face for their lawsuit and then told her, a longtime NAACP volunteer, to create a situation where she'd be arrested. This gets sold to the public as totally organic when actually it's playacting to create ideal conditions for a court case or scandal. The iconic photo of Parks on the bus was staged months after the incident as part of a press campaign. (The photo is shown in the clip) The white man, sitting behind her in the bus photo was a journalist, which you probably didn't know.” Let’s fact check this. It’s 100% true What Actually Happened on December 1, 1955 Rosa Parks was a longtime NAACP volunteer and secretary of the Montgomery chapter. She had been deeply involved in civil rights activism for years (including work on cases like the Recy Taylor rape and voter registration efforts). She was not just a random tired seamstress on her way home from work who spontaneously refused to move. Local civil rights leaders had been looking for a strong test case to challenge bus segregation. They even had people cast for the role before Rosa Parks. Earlier attempts include 15 year old Claudette Colvin were passed over because leaders felt Rosa Parks, a mature, respected, married woman with a spotless reputation, would be a more sympathetic plaintiff in court and to the public The Iconic Photo was 100% staged The famous photo was taken on December 21, 1956, this is over a year after her arrest and on the first day the buses were integrated after the Supreme Court ruling It was deliberately staged by journalists, Look Magazine and UPI, for a press campaign to dramatize the victory The white man sitting behind her is Nicholas Chriss, a UPI reporter, not a random angry passenger or segregationist

The thing is: children are stupid. You do not present a nuanced version of history to five year olds, and that’s okay. The sole downside is that those who remain stupid don’t pay attention when you introduce nuance later in their teens, and believe they were lied to.
