The pirate hosting sites are making more money than the creatives through advertising revenue and clicks. Some even have the nerve to ask for donations to continue hosting the material. Fans contribute money to help them continue like it were a legitimate subscription service 6/

In 2008 Virgin Comics released a print only version of Dan Dare. It was pirated and downloaded 120,000 times on one site. While I agree that not every download was a lost sale we only sold 12,000 physical copies. Virgin Comics went out of business. Actions have consequences. 1/
