@kanecornes Game would lose next to nothing if knees in marking contests were treated like bumps to the head. Absolute no brainer change to make.

Contact limits at training but go your hardest with a knee to the head, jaw, temple in a marking contest. Poor Noah Answerth. Slippery slopes
Jay Clark@ClarkyHeraldSun
Revealed. The AFL is set to introduce contact training limits as soon as next year ahead of a $1 billion concussion class action. The league quietly told clubs at top end of contact training last year to pull back heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/conc…

Genuine question — not from a “have a go at the coaches” angle, as I tend to trust the coaches on selection, but just trying to understand it better.
As a Tsatas fan, I’d be interested to know what areas of his game they feel still need developing before he gets another opportunity at AFL level. Just a genuine curiosity around his development and what he’s building towards.
Hopefully the coaches feels he is deserving and ready soon enough.

@SilentGhost263 @BigRick555 The Kelly option was to get him back to Essendon to bolster the assistants... or the main gig as Ive heard his named mentioned before.
Either way, winning culture/experience both in the coaching staff and playing group has to be the priority 🤞
English

@jayco_13 @BigRick555 Solomon is already a connection to Greene so no need to add Hird for that.
Kelly is still at Geelong so that won't help.
Longmire could be nice as an assistant or something, similar to Hinkley but it'd be more for what they add as coaches.
English

@SilentGhost263 @BigRick555 Hodge was part of Hawthorns fabric but moved because of Fagan.
We need to have some sort of connection
Longmire could bring the Swans guys
Hird (to which I'm against) could bring Toby Greene
Kelly could bring the Geelong guys
A few options there if we bite the bullett on Scott
English

@BigRick555 i don't think alot of these guys are gettable cos they're part of their clubs fabric but they'd all be great additions for varying reasons.
the most 'gettable' guys i think are Rampe, Lloyd, Cunningham, Zorko, Crisp, Howe, Bews, Stanley and maybe Danger or Greene.

@FootyonNine Bombers got a nice handout when they changed the rules on the run a couple of years ago to allow to them get Kako and generate another high end pick.
Demons missed out on Andrew, Eagles Collard, Freo Edwards, Saints McKenzie. Rules on the run have always been a thing

ANALYSIS: After four years of allowing the Queensland teams to cash in as they please, the AFL is slamming the draft door shut in the faces of three struggling sides

@AlbertThurgood Havent they overhauled the development department already?
Thought that was one if the first things they did.... obviously still needs tweaking 😆
English

@RoxDonsFan @BomberBanter_au Again. If they were any good they would have been picked up by another club. They weren't.
Delisting these players hasnt put our rebuild behind.
Dodoro overrating our list and wasting top picks is whats put us behind.
We had to get rid of Dodoro before things could change.
English

@jayco_13 @BomberBanter_au That’s why we are so behind on the rebuild. We don’t know how they would have developed with another year. That’s an ignorant statement. The players we kept made us the worst team lol. How could it have been worse lmao.

⬛️🟥Essendon's List Turnover in the Brad Scott Era: 2022-2025 ⬛️🟥
39 Players Out: Inclusive of Delistings, Trades & Retirements.
6/39 of these players are currently on AFL Lists.
*Will Setterfield would have been number 40 at the end of 2025 had Nic Martin not re-done his ACL.

English

@RoxDonsFan @BomberBanter_au We had to get rid of the deadwood recruited by Dodoro and not developed by the club
Kids not playing at AFL level are going to be the first to go
None besides Voss have proven to be bad decisions
And yes I believe we're doing the right thing despite the poor start to the season
English

@jayco_13 @BomberBanter_au We haven’t lost the 5 in a row to start a season since the 60’s. You’re defending the clubs decisions which have put us here
English

@jayco_13 @BomberBanter_au The way you are defending made us on the brink of the worst start in club history since 1967!
English

@RoxDonsFan @BomberBanter_au Alwyn was more a midfielder but pigeon holed as a small forward. I had more hope in Jayden than the other 2. Thought he could have gotten another preseason.
3 players who hardly played AFL being delisted is hardly the reason we are where we are...
... and who's against you? 🤷♂️
English

@jayco_13 @BomberBanter_au And none of the others were performing as AFL level and still are not to be fair. The others had potential and needed games. Alwyn was starting to play well at half back. Wanganeen was showing something.
How has your way worked out? That goes for everyone against me!
English

@RoxDonsFan @BomberBanter_au All 3 didnt set the world on fire in the VFL to be fair
English

@BomberBanter_au The fact we quit so easily on the Daveys and Wanganeen and kept Parkins and Parish in the list is so sad
English

@liparota @superfooty The media are just putting out the obvious or repeating the same old crap...
All Essendon all day 🤦♂️
English

Essendon will face a monster payout if they choose to move on Brad Scott after his financially lucrative re-signing last season, continuing a dark pattern that has cost the club millions in recent years.

@ghotye @cdesilva23 If they talk so much then why did you put a deal in at all, we said we werent trading him...
English

@jayco_13 @cdesilva23 You don’t put an offer in until you think the club may accept it. Thats kinda standard practice.
All clubs spend weeks or months talking about what an offer would look like before trade period.
English

Counterpoint: If the Bombers had accepted the Hawks poo poo platter and been this bad, this same talk show would be saying they “cut too deep” and should’ve kept Merrett. Can’t win either way 🤷🏾♂️
7AFL@7AFL
"Three first rounders for Zach Merrett. If (rebuilding) is your club strategy, would that not have been potentially what you explore?" Messaging from Brad Scott's press conference about the club's stance to rebuild, has raised questions around the Zach Merrett trade decision.
English

@Tbonesteak1987 @M__O__T__U @1116sen @SENBreakfast Yep, thought we sealed that during trade week.
My bad.👍
English

@jayco_13 @M__O__T__U @1116sen @SENBreakfast I mean our trade up for pick nine that netted us Sharp would be the a prime example
English

@Tbonesteak1987 @M__O__T__U @1116sen @SENBreakfast True.
But when was the last time a 'big trade' went through during this time?
It's generally a time for swapping 3rds and 4ths to accumulate points.
Anyway we kept him.... for better or worse.
English

@jayco_13 @M__O__T__U @1116sen @SENBreakfast Thats the thing, you can trade picks all the way up until draft night and then live trading through the night so that doesnt matter
English

@Dan90091917 @cdesilva23 Running list management.
Merrett still had 2 years on his contract... the list management was already done 🤣
English

@jayco_13 @cdesilva23 You honestly believe that? Your new president the day Merrett said he wanted out declared he wouldn’t be traded under any circumstances. President running list management. Joke of a club
English

@VonStruth @cdesilva23 The picks you offered were no where near good enough for pick 1 and we werent giving up our 3 picks in the top 10 for 1 player.
