@jayco_13 @cdesilva23 You don’t put an offer in until you think the club may accept it. Thats kinda standard practice. All clubs spend weeks or months talking about what an offer would look like before trade period.

Did you even read my comment? Here is my comment again. 1) "Prior to that it was negative" This was only true for one year (2020-21). Before covid, migration was high and positive (+240k/year) for nearly two decades. The recent surge didn't just fill a hole, it surpassed the previous record. 2) "Not a real increase" It is a real increase in resident population. Even if they are "temporary" (students/workers), these 1.4 million people are physically in Australia, using housing, infrastructure, and services right now. 3) The "Departure Deficit" The high net number wasn't just caused by people returning, it was caused by people not leaving. Many who arrived before or during covid stayed longer than expected due to visa extensions, which stacked new arrivals on top of an existing population that normally would have cycled out. Hence, it started as a "catch-up," but evolved into the largest population jump in Australian history.

That number was caught up due to delay in processing over the past 3 years, with the last being only just over (~40k) Turnbull’s level.
