Echt een non issue. Dit is gewoon een racistische kijk op iets wat geen probleem is. Dit is echt zo’n normaal voor andere landen. In Luxemburg waar ik nu woon heb je zelfs bij sommige supermarkten bij caissières vlaggen hangen van welke talen ze spreken.

A couple months ago I gave my friend and her husband a jar of vanilla sugar as a housewarming gift for their first home. The next morning she texted me saying that after her husband tasted some in his morning coffee he decided that our friendship will only be allowed as long as I continue to supply them with vanilla sugar 😂 Fast forward to this week and my friend’s in-laws are here for a visit. They’ve had vanilla sugar in their coffee every morning and had my friend reach out to ask if they could buy some from me before they leave! I currently have way more vanilla sugar than I know what to do with, so I will gladly be taking some over later today as a parting gift. I just love getting share a little bit of vanilla happiness. ~Leah Morgan

Dutch, actually. It's a North European thing, you wouldn't understand. Considering it cultural anthropologically, I feel it is a rare pocket of in-group preference particular to our cultures. On a societal level we are very hospitable (often to our own detriment, as is well known). However, eating together is seen as an intimate and cherished family moment. You can't just barge in and expect to be fed. But if you are part of the dinner plans, we are the most welcoming and generous dinner hosts. In fact, from our perspective, it feels kind of socially constraining to be always ready to give any random visitor the feast of their lifetimes, as I've seen in many Mediterannean cultures.
