I am delighted to have accepted the position of Secretary of State at the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government.
Andy Burnham's vision of good growth in every postcode demands we build on the foundations we have already laid to bring the change we have promised.
I look forward to returning to government with renewed drive and determination to put power back in people’s hands - and hope back in our hearts.
It has been the privilege of my life to serve as the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
The economy today is stronger, fairer and more resilient because of the choices we have taken as a Labour Government over the past two years.
Stability restored, investment delivered and reform to our economy under way. I said when I was appointed Chancellor that I would judge my time in office if the lives ordinary working class people have been improved. I’m proud to say that they have.
And to every young woman and girl let my time in office show there should be no ceilings on your ambitions, your hopes or your dreams.
I wish the very best of luck to my successor, Andy and his cabinet. You have my full support, and I will continue to play my part in helping this Labour government deliver the change the country needs.
@notJoth Had a couple of games last season too looked very good. Not so much people overreacting it’s that Myko just isn’t up to it and we have Aznou who seems like given a chance and some time could be exactly who we need. Not sure if this season is too soon for him
Can’t help but think there’s an overreaction to Aznou yesterday. Played well but it’s against Dundee. People have made compilations of his game yesterday haha
Apart from a miracle this will be my last season as a season ticket holder. I know there will be thousands of others waiting to take my place but this isn't the game we grew up with.
Managed to hear a few minutes of @andyburnham ‘s speech earlier.
Regardless of what you think of his politics, it was refreshing to hear someone speaking clearly, no hate or bumbling buffonery.
Let’s hope he can do a good job. God knows, the country needs it.
Onward Evertonian💙
Shocking news that Counter Terrorism Police are investigating a credible, serious threat targeted at an Islamic event in Suffolk.
Thanks to the quick action taken by police and the organisers, nobody was hurt.
My message is clear: I will not tolerate any attacks on our Muslim communities, or any form of anti-Muslim hatred.
Hey @andyburnham , any statement about the London riots last night ?
Women threatened, intimidated and police officers injured.
Or shall we take it that foreign men can riot without consequences?
I’m not being funny but this kit is literally a disgrace. Here’s a premier league footballer looking like a bag of spuds in it.
I can’t even be arsed getting it for my kids when there are so many wonderful kits on the market. I want them to feel proud wearing Everton gear, but instead it looks like generic PE clothing.
It shouldn’t be this fucking hard!!!
