@emollick Not if companies use behaviors instead of values to clearly and specifically define what culture equals in their organization!

Hiring for cultural fit just means hiring yourself. Interviewers judge fit by comparing candidates to themselves. The paper shows candidates at elite law, banking & consulting firms are "good fits" if they have similar hobbies, styles & college experiences as their interviewers

@sapna Clearly strategically targeted to the right geography. Not so sure the audience they're targeting are Caps supporters since 96% (48/50 - all but VA/MD) of decision makers likely support teams from elsewhere.

@eric_seufert I’ve always said, people are obsessed with privacy until they have to pay even $1 out of pocket. Then, principles go out the window.

It seems that pricing details have emerged relating to Meta's plan to offer EU users the opportunity to subscribe if they don't consent to having their data processed for ads personalization: €13 / month for the Facebook and Instagram app bundle. wsj.com/tech/meta-floa…

Overheard recently: “in 2015 no one would have though American manufacturing had a future and most thought creative professions were the safest. It’s 2023 and writers are on strike and the govt is encouraging onshoring more manuf.”

I gave Claude the descriptions of 400 of the latest Y Combinator startups & asked it to generate on-trend startup concepts based on them. Some interesting ideas. (As a general principle, this type of few-shot prompting, where you give the AI examples, is an effective technique)

@Paul_Framp AI may make medical diagnoses more accurate and faster, but that likely means more people go to the doctor more often, not that doctors can work less. We’re healthier, but still working a lot.

@Paul_Framp I forget the name of the phenomenon but it essentially says gains in throughout just mean more is produced. I.e. if you double the lanes on the motorway traffic doesn’t get better, more people just drive.(1/2()

I wonder if, in our lifetimes, we will see humanity realise that working 8-10 hour days for 5 days a week, 47-50 weeks a year is not conducive to happiness or fulfilment ?

@Paul_Framp Try to move to even shorter work weeks. However, countries in this stage almost always rack up major debts and eventually have to deleverage, resulting in wealth destruction and a new generation that gets ahead by working 6 days. Prisoner’s dilemma of hard work!

@Paul_Framp Ray Dalio suggests there are 5 stages in countries’ long term cycles. For brevity, as countries build wealth they often move from 6 day work weeks to 5. Once they are at peak wealth, those who had to work 6 just to make ends meet have died off and new generations (1/2)

Given Meta is claiming to remove unhealthy conversations & trolls with Threads, perhaps Twitter could create a new side-hustle jobs & professional profile network that removes the 90% spam that is LinkedIn today ?!
