@Ankaman616 I’m potentially doing some research on this soon and wondered if you would be interested in chatting about it? Feel free to DM if that works

Many people who took up playing Padel in the last 2 years have remarked it's easier to organise 4 people coming together to play a sport for an hour, than it is to get together a 5 a side team... x.com/i/status/20190…

@Ankaman616 I can't even get 5 mates together for 5 a side...

@thomasforth Is it that gown and gown separation then where Oxford is gown to Birmingham’s town and Cambridge is gown to London’s town??

Preaching from Jesus’ encounter with the woman at the well this morning as we look at How Jesus still wants to meet us even if we have ‘tried’ church and it hasn’t helped us.

Wondering if there's a way of adapting this @OptaFranz visualization so that instead of showing Harry Kane's long passes on a football pitch, the arrows show an inpatient's ward moves on a hospital 'map'. Clinically-driven ward moves in blue; *non*-clinically-driven moves in red.

@barneyrednews [non-work tweet] it was great to be able to sign up for Red News having only previously bought a copy on my rare pilgrimage to the ground but what was so lovely was to receive a personalised email thanking me for signing up to the fanzine - looking forward to the coverage

I don't always take the incredibly expensive early train to London but when I do I take a picture of the booking level data and share it online.

@mrdavidrowe Yeah I did get in trouble once for walking back with a friend from his high school, actually that was in SC too when I was visiting him, cos I think it was suspicious we were walking so far

@jayvaysay Not really, because no one lives there, nor wants to. I remember reading in a Bill Bryson book that the average distance visitors to Yellowstone walk from their cars is under 200ft. And that includes the hikers! Whereas in Britain, retiring to the country is an aspiration.

@jayvaysay We have extended family in Miami who live in a gated community inside a gated community! Gotta keep the riffraff out! As for rural England, I agree that it is barely understood, but there is no way "Escape to the Country" would make sense in the US – there is no rural idyll here

@mrdavidrowe I’m not sure rural England is that well understood in England at times haha. But I dunno how well I understood gated communities until I spent time in one in Myrtle Beach

@jayvaysay And I think it surprised me just how 'off the radar' rural America is to most people. I remember two friends asking me where to go to experience the Real England (or something like that) and without hesitation I said a small village. They stared blankly. It didn't make sense.

@jayvaysay Yes. I certainly do presume a depth of meaning in everything – what might be called the Catholic Imagination, although I'm not a Catholic! Have you read Aurora Leigh by Elizabeth Barrett Browning? The section on small things pointing to big things: stephencrippen.com/blog/2018/6/24…

@mrdavidrowe As a child I had the privilege of playing team sports and even then I was learning lessons about being part of a collective and it really hit home when I recognised the traits of connectedness in me (gallup.com/cliftonstrengt…) seeing these connections and how it can change people
